This place was on our bucket list of Lake Country taverns before the pandemic and we finally strolled in on a recent summer Saturday. The bloodies are great, made with a homemade mix, the fried chicken was flavorful and juicy (if almost too crispy) and the cheesesteak could feed a small family.
This place has not been immune to the price hikes, just like everywhere (the $17.95 for the chicken) but the food was way better than expected, the bloodies are just right, and the beer is cold. The ambiance is exactly what you're thinking it should be and fulfills the charm prophecy its exterior promises.
Let me start with the drinks, the old fashioned was served in a tall thin glass the second one in a pint beer glass. My first gimlet was skimpy and the second one even smaller in a smaller glass. I had perch which had a few bones and paid extra for potatoe pancakes that were just plain old hash browns like you get at breakfast the cole slaw was in the same size cup as the tartar sauce so you got two bites. My wife had a steak sandwich and paid extra for onion rings. The steak was gristle and the onion rings were close to being burnt. We were given $10 off.

A typical Wisconsin local beer bar. The burgers are great and the bartenders always seem to be friendly along with the patrons that seem to all know each other.

It was the first place I visited during my stay in the town, plenty of space and beautiful decoration. Sthephanie gave me a good service and very friendly clientele, food and drinks at a reasonable price, I hope to visit again.
Really, really nice bartenders. We sat out on the patio by the river. Loved the window for ordering. However our outside waitress was great too. We had appetizers and they were good and filling. We will most definitely be back . Thanks for such a nice time.

We absolutely enjoy our visits. Freindly staff and patrons, great drinks and a menu that satisfies. Their specials, many homemade, are popular and totally an experience. This family owned and ran establishment is also a great scene for local music acts.

First visit tonight, won't be our last. Every employee was friendly and busting to make the slew of customers happy. The pretzel appetizer with beer cheese was excellent. Burgers and sandwiches were really good too. Can't wait to visit again and try more.
North Lake bear trap is a nice little hole in the wall of sorts bar in North Lake obviously

The Bear Trap consistently delivers a great customer experience. There's almost always a group of locals hanging out at the bar. Sit down, order a beer, and in a few minutes you'll feel right at home. The bartenders and waitstaff are always friendly and attentive. The beer selection for North Lake is decent - there's always a few craft brews on tap, including a few Lakefront beers. The food is very good, however I haven't gone deep into the menu. I will say that the fried cod on Fridays is very good - the batter isn't to thin or thick - the fish is very flakey and tastes great. Things are served SUPER hot, and often there's some unique homemade soup available. No, it's not a big place, and no, it's not super fast. What's your hurry, anyway? Go there because you want to enjoy a drink and quality, homemade food in a relaxed atmosphere. In a hurry? Go to the drive-through at Culver's.
