I am back in CT for work and I stopped this morning at Norm’s Diner for a quick brunch on this Sunday morning. I was welcomed with a cheerful greeting. However, because I was traveling alone I was offered counter seating. Which, I never sit at. There were tables available so I requested one but was informed that on the weekend those were reserved for bigger parties. It is understandable. So, I moved on to Sunrise Cafe in New London where I was able to sit at a table while traveling alone.

Very nostalgic and kitschy diner with really good food! I had a traditional burger and my boyfriend had the egg salad on toast and both were really tasty! The owner was very engaging. A true gem! The owners are genuine and fun. Our waiter was fascinating, engaging and the food was the BEST we have had in a very long time! The blueberry pancakes are not to be missed and my husband (who doesn’t usually say much) was blown away by his chicken fried steak and cleaned his plate. If you are in the area…. don’t pass it by. I had a great experience there. The staff and the customers were welcoming and friendly. I ate too much but I was warned by my server that I was ordering too much food. He said he profiled me :). We drive to Groton from Ohio once a year to do our personal “Best of Groton” food tour. Norm’s is always on the list to stop at. Their omelets and pancakes cannot be beat, especially the chocolate chip ones! Hands down the best breakfast spot in Groton.
