This is my favorite bagel place in the city (it's on the edges but I would say it is well worth the commute). Almost anytime you come during the day, there will be a line at or out the door, and for good reasons. It is a small shop featuring bagels, pastries, deli meats, lox, and sandwiches. The staff can be standoffish but I have no issue with it because they make bomb food and are never outright rude to me. These bagels reign supreme, my personal favorite being the rye but you can’t go wrong with any (other favorites - onion, garlic, poppy, jalapeno cheddar and plain). They have a soft interior with a nice, crunchy shell. I always get the lox sandwich, loaded with everything when I come. The lox is fantastic, the chive schmear is delicious, and the other veggie toppings are good quality. They have fair prices and are 24/7 (2AM bagel runs are the late night move). Seriously, I can’t say much more than to just try this place. I will note, if you drive, the lot is small and usually is almost full. I typically can find a spot, if not in front, around the corner. Haven't been here in a while but I was in the area & wanted to grab a favorite treat. NY Salt bagel with Sun Dried Tomato cream cheese, it's my standard order, I've had many times at this location. This is the first time I've ever been horribly disappointed. No taste of sun-dried tomatoes at all. If it weren't for the tiny flecks of red in the cream cheese it would just be orange flavorless cream cheese. Not a good cost cutting measure. Best NY bagels outside of NY. I'll be making my own cream cheese after this visit. When they're fresh, these are some of the best bagels in Chicagoland. When they're not fresh, they can be not great. Two times I've gone and had a great experience. The third time I went I had to wait a really long time and ended up with bagels that were dense and almost stale. The prices are great, and the value is hard to beat. This is a carryout-only place. My bad! I came for the deli sandwich and kreplach soup! It was late and we stopped in for the first time. Out of brisket so went for the pastrami on a toasted challah (so I could share with my soft-foods/chewing mother). Great sandwich at a great price. They carry matzo ball soup but not kreplach, and that night I ordered the tomato-based beef barley soup, along with the lox spread, a couple of pancakes (zucchini and sweet potato), and a knish. Would definitely go back for the deli sandwich, lox spread, and pancakes and to try their bagels and more of their soups, lol. My friend tried the lox and liver spreads and enjoyed them both. There was a constant small line while we were there on a Sunday night. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Recommended dishes Lox Spread

It feels like a bagel place was airlifted directly from Brooklyn or Queens and dropped just north of Chicago, in the best possible way. Great people working there. The bagels are just as good as what I can get when I'm visiting family back in NY; they've got standard, high quality deli fare and other bakery treats, too. Open late, even 24/7 some days, which is fantastic for a night owl like me. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
