About
Mother India is pretty near Fredrikstad Literature House. Good broth, butter chicken and chicken tikka are among the dishes to be ordered at this restaurant. Order great tea or delicious mango lassi. Clients don't like lager at Mother India. At this place, you can order food as a takeout. The professional staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place wonderful. The cool service is something these restaurateurs care about. Visitors of this spot state that they found prices attractive. Come here for the spectacular atmosphere. This restaurant is ranked 4.3 within the Google grading system.

The food was good and strong, the lamb succulent, the nan-bread had an... unfortunate shape. Quick service, but I would've appreciated a refill of my water. And sitting behind a wall, it was difficult to get the attention of the waiter. Great Indian food in Fredrikstad city center. From the outside this family restaurant looks unassuming, but inside it has recently been totally refurbished with good taste and style. The furniture and decoration has been made to order in India. The cuisine is focused on north Indian food. I'm glad I discovered this place. Unfortunately, in Sarpsborg or Fredrikstad, it's very hard to find a good restaurant serving Indian specialties. At Mother India, both the food, spices, and presentation are very appealing, and above all, delicious. They don't skimp on ingredients or portions. The waitstaff is extremely friendly, cheerful, and smiling - that's an additional plus for this place. The only drawback is charging for water. I visit various restaurants, and if water is not complimentary, the waitstaff usually informs you about it. I found out from the bill. It's a bit disappointing because especially in Østfold, tap water is free and, above all, tasty. And if someone has a preference for mineral water or premium water, they should always have the option to choose. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person kr 200–300

Authentic Indian restaurant and probably one of the best indian restaurant in Europe We were on the way to Oslo from Gothenburg.. and we found it on google map, we realised by the time we will reach there it will be almost closing time, so we called them and ask if they can wait for us They took the order on phone, prepared upfront upfront and we loved the food, taste and service ... Good taste, nice interior, cozy ambiance, nice serving/ portions size, good plating , well priced and friendly service .. one cannot ask for more

We had a great time. Waiter Joakim gave us the best customer service we could want and more. Making us want to come again as we enjoyed ourselves so much. The food was decently priced and well portioned. We were plenty full by the time we left. 10/10 would dine again. Also the place is really pretty. Very delicious food, but the meals are expensive and the quantity is very small, not enough to satisfy a small child Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
Very good place. We ordered lamb and chicken foods, all were tasty. You can ask mild or hot. The bread was very well prepared. The service is friendly and professional. On the negative side: there are no coathanger, and the tables are not so large (we were five) so the table get crowded quickly. The lavatory is also limited to one person at a time.

We had really high hopes for this place, so keep in mind that this may have painted our impression when those hopes were dashed. For starters, the food was really quite expensive for: 1) the area, 2) the quantity, and 3) most importantly the quality. In a point that will become increasingly relevant when we move onto the service, we (and the 2 tables adjacent to ours) had to actually ask for the full amount of rice that we ordered, something which seemed to flabbergast our waiter. It took 25 minutes for the waiter to acknowledge our existence and take our order. 20 minutes later we received our ice cold mango lassi. The satisfying refreshing temperature meant absolutely nothing of course, since our food would not arrive for another absolutely insane 40 minutes. From the time we sat down until we got our food, an hour and a half had passed! The worst part was watching the family at the next table wait so long that they were no longer hungry, flag down the waiter to point out that they didn't get everything they ordered, wait for that to get fixed, eat, pay, and leave BEFORE we had a bite. And we promised ourselves over and over during the course of this wait that we wouldn't say a word if the food had been worth it, but it just wasn't. Really just middle of the road Indian food. Decently satisfying, a nice break from the usual fare, but none of the spice punch you'd expect. While we were on the fence between 3 and 2 stars, the hideous mold staring down from the ceiling tiles while we ate ultimately pushed us over the edge. I wouldn't exactly chase people away from here, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it too highly and I surely wouldn't come back before trying some other places first.
Hands down to what is the best restaurant in Fredrikstad. Delicious recipes, high quality ingredients and a wide variety of dishes. Meat dishes are juicy and tasty, and the vegan options are flavourful and really good too. A tiny bit overpriced but worth every NOK. Very good service and friendly staff, they have take away option too, but recommend sitting there as the atmosphere is very laid back and relaxing.
