I would like to to say Thank you for the wonderful experience, the excellent service, the amazing view and the delicious food&drinks ! we started with a mixed variety of St. Valentine Cocktails as you can see and then moved to the entrees, my wife enjoyed the mushroom creme and me i'd say the pork belly with a smoky aftertaste just perfect, then for the main dishes my daughter ordered a simple but delicious buttery pasta with chiken, my wife had the classic Ribeye and finally me the duck breast OMG! we had an amazing time and we are comming back as soon as a table is available lol, Cant believe we had not been here before, Highly recommended and you will not be dissapointed i can guarantee that ! stay hungry my friends. What an incredible fine dining experience! Service was impeccable, food was excellent, and the view was worth a million bucks. :). The duck breast entree was amazing, as was the rack of lamb and the lions mane mushroom item. The Cesar salad first course was also top notch and one of the best we've ever had. The baked Alaska desert was incredible also. Lastly, the wine selection was very nice with prices lower than what I've seen elsewhere. For instance, they had a 2108 Epoch Block B listed at $175/btl, and they had an Alban Reva at $320. The gin-based Garden Party cocktail is phenomenal! 10 out of 10 would recommend and would go back for a special occasion. The only consideration is that it is an expensive experience depending on what you order! The food was great, the specials and apps were awesome. Our entrees left flavor to be desired but we had both standard entrees and not the specials. Our server was incredible and the timing of the food coming out was perfect. The wine list is exquisite and extensive, along with being informative about different wines from different regions. The cocktails were very nice as well, I am a big fan of old fashioneds and ice cubes and this one is too tier. The view was great even though we were one table in from the windows you still had a great view of downtown and the bay. The atmosphere is great with noise dampening carpet and walls that doesn’t make the restaurant too loud along with smooth jazz in the background. The restaurant is very well staffed from the hostess to the waiting staff and waiter assistants. We wouldn’t hesitate to come here again for a special occasion as the price point is very high. My last visit here was perhaps in 1988 with my late father, when I attended UCSD. It was my first time experiencing a "made at the table" caesar salad. Yesterday was my birthday, and I am visiting San Diego for a respite from my rainy current hometown of Bellingham. I had been dreaming about coming back to Mister A's for a number of years and it did not disappoint. My friend mentioned the old school caesar preparation and we noted it was not on the menu. Our lovely and knowledgable waitress Heidi immediately said they still offer a caesar for their "regulars" who recall the prior offering. She was great! While not mixed at the table, it was delicious. As was the amazing lobster strudel (which Heidi recommended), 8oz tenderloin, both of which my friend and I split. We had a late lunch, and it was perfect to experience some surf and turf. The Cinnamon Bun bread pudding for dessert was also superb, and the staff brought out an additional desert cake for me with "happy birthday" written in chocolate sauce. The cocktails were also very good - I had an old fashioned and a manhattan, both wel crafted. I loved the touch of "branding" the giant ice cube in front of the table and then pouring the old fashioned preparation from a separate bottle over it. Last but not least by any stretch is the ambience. I'm a HUGE aviation buff and sitting outside, watching the parade of planes land just off the balcony (we sat outside which I highly recommend) was mesmerizing. Did I mention it was also at sunset?! It was. I will be going back, and could just sit on the lounge side, have cocktails and appetizers on the deck for hours. Trouble haha, but the best kind. I've been to a lot of fine restaurants, in a lot of different cities and towns, and there is really nothing that compares. I just love this place. This is a restaurant where the view is fantastic. The service is amazing as well. The food quality is much lower than other premium restaurants in the area. If they improved the food quality, I believe that they would earn a solid all around 5 stars. I ordered the beef choice that was not a steak and it was dry and poorly done. The Truffle Mac and cheese was amazing. If it was not for the fabulous decor and view, it would be not be a fabulous place. I would bring in a new chef and concentrate on food quality!! After a late afternoon elopement at the SD County building, our small party of 4 celebrated with a dinner at Mr A’s. From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. As we were early for our reservation, drinks at the bar were a welcomed offer. Next we took some photos out on the patio with some of the best views of SD. Once our table was ready we were looked after by Robert (i hope that’s right?) and treated to the best food and service I have ever experienced. The wine pairings, the scallops, the desert, attention to detail, the staff, all made our wedding day perfect! Thank you for making our experience one we will never forget!
