Huge place. Lots of specialist items.
I’ve never had anything to complain about at Met Market, but I also haven’t had anything to praise. However, today Barbra at self checkout and she absolutely made my day. She was sweet and professional as she helped me with a finicky barcode. Best experience I’ve had since moving to Kirkland and I thought I should share!
To everyone complaining about rude staff: they're rude because they're under so much stress from the horrible leadership. You don't know when you go in to work there whether you will suddenly be suspended or fired, because the store director twists words and enforces policies inequitably. He fired someone for being friends with a coworker outside of work (by trying baselessly to claim they were in a romantic relationship), and suspended a single dad for a whole month suspiciously soon after he rejected the advances of a store admin. But allows the same store admin to be in a relationship with someone IN THE CORPORATE OFFICE because she's his favorite. Assumedly in collaboration with him, she created a handwritten list of employee names labeled “To-Watch.” Some of the most unproblematic people were on it, and all of the Black team members at the time were also on it. When it was found, they tried to claim it was for tracking employees’ time accuracy. But no one believes them because if you're trying to correct people's behavior you don't put them on a list that says “To Watch” and then wait 11 months to tell them they're on it. That's the tip of the drama iceberg. The store director is two-faced and loves lying. The union does nothing and HR protects all of his double standards. But there's more than just drama! Multiple workers, including store admins who frequently "help" in Bakery and Prepared Foods, have expired food handler certifications (this is illegal and disgusting). A rat was found in the produce department and two team members had to step on it to kill it. Prep Foods has so few team members compared to the scale of the department that food in storage areas spoils and no one notices. Bakery cakes get dry and stale because no one knows how old they are because no one marks them with a date when they're delivered. Absolutely toxic cesspool. So yeah, no wonder workers here are "rude." They can't wait to get out of there, themselves.

There are many things to love about Metropolitan Market. They have a great variety of quality food products. It is the best place to buy organic milk. They also have great meat and produce. The deli and bakery are where they truly shine. When we go to Metropolitan Market, our main purpose is to have lunch there. If you enjoy eating more than cooking, bring home one of their soups or entrees.
It is too pricey

Easily one of my favorite market places overall - i'm glad theres one close by to my work place as I used to live by the Sammamish location and miss going there since my move. MM is definitely an 'upper echelon' type market. fresh fruits, veggies, high quality produce and foods are offered. But one of there best kept secrets is the quality of their bakery and hot foods/deli area. Always phenomenal soups, sandwiches, salad bar and (some locations even have poke, and ethinic eats. The pricing here is indeed higher than your standard neighborhood grocery store but it's all reflected in the quality of the items offered. Everyone that i've encountered there, shoppers and employees alike are all very nice and helpful. The store is always clean and it rarely if ever feels hectic. My only gripe if i had to pick one is the lot is pretty tight and can get hectic on busy days. But that's just a personal problem because i drive a giant truck lol
Their hot gooey chocolate chip cookies are the best! And cinnamon bun bread is to die for!

High-end grocery store that is similar to Whole Foods. Super friendly staff, and high quality foods. A huge cheese section as well as an indoor bakery. Pricey
