This was one of our regular spots - we made the trek over the mountain a couple of times a year for lunch at the Marsh Tavern. Service was excellent, food was good and the overall atmosphere was very refined and comfortable. But something happened and the menu changed, and frankly, its just not as appealing as it used to be. It may have been the pandemic, or it may have been a new chef, or it may have been a management decision to reduce costs, but whatever it was, the Marsh Tavern has lost its appeal.
Great food, but beware of being double charged. Also, there's a hidden 'historic preservation fee' they tack on to your bill without telling you. Also, my party was seated at 2 separate tables, but they still considered us a large party and tacked on a service fee without warning. Casual lunch became an incredibly expensive proposition.
Stopped in for lunch on a rainy Tuesday. Staff was super friendly and very attentive. Great atmosphere and food. Would recommend.
I am not sure where to start. No one was smiling who worked at the restaurant the entire night. Everyone had pained expressions. Once we ordered our drinks and placed our food order, we had to wait quite some time before our mussel appetizer arrived, which was barely heated and just so-so in terms of flavor. With our table covered in mussel dishes, our caesar salads were brought out and the server did not offer to remove the mussel dishes; we had to ask him. He seemed bothered that we had made that request and he did not come back to remove the last remaining dish. Not once during our meal did our initial waiter come to the table to inquire at to whether we needed anything or how the meal was. We watched him attend to other tables, but no effort was shown to us. This was reflected in our tip. In summary, food was ho hum and the service was lackluster. We will not be back.

A month or so after being there for lunch and looking at my charge statement referencing it i said to my husband- wasn’t the equinox mediocre? He said “horrible”. Incredibly disappointing and not worth going to. I had heard of the equinox for years. Unwelcoming hostesses. Carpeted dining room. Asked for a piece of bread to go with a salad and got a hamburger bun. Really poor lunch. It is an old hotel in a downtown ( for vermont) setting. Not a charming- rather a shopping outlet ski town

VT has a pretty severe labor shortage. This restaurant (and many others) has limited hours and a reduced staff. It's probably not fair to judge anything in town under the current conditions. Don't expect The Marsh Tavern or the Equinox as it was during its heyday. I get the impression everyone is doing the best they can with what they've got.
Terrible terrible terrible understaffed and you wait wait and wait made reservations for noon and was told that if nobody called me back I had no reservations waited 20 minutes to get seated but the room was empty took another 20 minutes to get waited on and for evere to to get food had to leave beforey meal came to make my meeting did I say terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent food and service. Everything is back to pre-pandemic quality and standards of hospitality. Very pleasant dinner experience.

Service was blah. It was like the staff didn’t want to be there. No smiles. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. The menu is limited, especially breakfast.
So disappointed the food and quality was not good overpriced . Wine prices way to high has totally gone down hill loosing its charm
