I hate to write this, but I feel like the only way this will improve is to expose. I grew up in Groves and if I didn’t go to Bruce’s MB 4 times a week it was 5! It was a family environment, and the quality was ALWAYS the top priority! Unfortunately, MB on Phelan/Major is by far the worst grocery store in Beaumont, period. I live very close and I always run in when I need one or two things, but I always have to be on high alert for expired products. No matter what, I always forget to check the date and end up with something 1, 2 or three weeks expired. This time, I picked up some fresh salsa and forgot to check the date - it was expired 2 months ago! It seems they don’t care. Because this has been going on for at least the past 5-6 years. Beware if you must shop there. Their quality control is horrible! Would love to support local, but I just can’t anymore. Sad to see they spent more money on the exterior and have little to no changes to the core of the store - it’s just sad. Please change management or fix this!

I have recently went to this location because they have great prices. To my dismay they have terrible meating dates and they don't do regular checks on the time frames in which the meat needs to be cleared for public safety and consumption. Despite the products, location, and pricing I will not be shopping at this location or the brand in the near or far future. If you are a regular shopper at this location please check your products especially in the summer where the temp could affect your body and life. It is a stores duty to provide the best for its customers and your job to value where you spend your hard earned money.

Braden is an EXCELLENT Market Basket employee. He works at the location at Major Drive & Phelan in Beaumont. Braden is very helpful and he has a positive, “can do” attitude. —— To Braden: you are going to go far in life with that wonderful attitude.

I like Market Basket because it's somewhat a part of my neighborhood; making it a convenient place to pick up a few quick things without having to go anywhere, basically. However, there is much I don't like. First, the prices are extremely high. You are better off going to Kroger and trying your luck with Kroger Plus Card savings, along with better quality of food choices. Market Basket is so overpriced, I simply don't understand it. Also, the choices are limited. Second, there is never fresh produce. Be careful when getting fresh fruit from here, as it is likely spoiled. Most fruit is already molding, especially if it's in any kind of packaging. If you find a good pack, be sure to eat immediately. Also meats are of good price, but the amount you get is small. By that, I mean, it looks fresh for the price - just wish there was more. Third, small selection. You'll have plenty of soda options and things like that, but everything else will be limited. However, I think the most popular brands are there, though their variations are limited. In short, don't expect a whole section of different ketchup or sauces or anything. But you might have a shelf. With that being said, they do have some pretty good sales on very specific items. It's worth going down a few isles to see if anything peeks your interest. Also, you'll find some things you don't normally see elsewhere. It's a good store, but it's probably best for dashing in and out for 1 or 2 things. One shopping bag with 5 items will be 50 bucks easily- and we're just talking about regular stuff. However, they have THE BEST rotisserie chicken that is well seasoned, and I do like their store brand Jumbo Eggs. Anyway, just don't go full grocery shopping here. Take the extra 2 miles to h-e-b or Kroger. Walmart is obviously cheaper as well, I just don't like them anymore.

I will make sure this market basket will go under investigation for over charging our bank account. The manager don't care to even resolve the issue. Refuse to roll back cameras. He is rude and always is. He need to properly train his cashier's to pay attention instead of playing and talking to co workers. This is unacceptable. I don't care if this has to go to channel 4, 6, and 12 news..You don't play with people hard earned money!!
Market Basket is so far below the quality of the other popular grocers around Beaumont. For one, their prices are ridiculous. I can only assume they mark things up so terribly due to the convenience of their multiple locations. Regardless, even many of the discount pricing promotions in the weekly sales ads are still above what you can get that same product for regularly at Walmart or Kroger. The stores are also significantly less clean and less organized than your standard grocery store too. The thing that really bothers me about this chain though is how intentionally misleading and deceitful their sales ads can be sometimes. On at least occasions, there have been sales promotions listed and pictured as though they would include a particular line of a brand's product, but when you get the store, you find that is not the case. More than once, the steam-in- bag style Green Giant frozen vegetable were shown as being whatever sale price, and the details of the listing regarding the size of the varieties included in the sale were such that the actual item pictured in the sales ad of the stand-up bag style frozen veggies fit those parameters. In other words, the sales ad showed the stand-up style bags, and the printed specifics did not preclude the stand-up style bags from the sale. But upon going to actually purchase any veggies from this style, I found that only the box-style veggies were actually on sale. I hope the manner in which this is misleading (and honestly just deceitful) is abundantly evident. Most recently, there was a promotion for Little Debbie snack cakes for 2 for $4. The sales ad specified it as the "Family Pack," but no such line exists in Little Debbie (at least not that I've seen); there is either the standard size packs or the larger "Big Packs." The two examples pictured in the sales ad though were both of being the "Big Packs" though. So what's actually on sale when I go to the local Market Basket? Of course it's only the standard packs! I have tried to raise these concerns before to associates and supervisors in the actual store only to be told something along the lines of how that is handled by corporate. And when I have sent messages to corporate about this pattern of deceitful advertising, I have been told a simple "sorry" and to speak with managers at the local store. My wife and I moved to southeast Texas from Alabama about two years ago, where we were fortunate enough to have the pleasure of shopping at Publix--the clear standard bearer of quality in grocer industry. So dealing with this kind of awful service and fallacious advertising practices is very appalling to us, given our wonderful experiences with Publix. (If something wrong up for a higher price than advertised in an ad or marked on the shelf at Publix, they would give you one of those items at no charge for the inconvenience of having to get the price corrected.) In either case though, the way Market Basket handles their business is clearly subpar. The ONLY reason I go there is for a few select items from the weekly sales ad. But even then, it's probably only once or twice a month. (And then I have to hope that I haven't been misled by the ad regarding what is actually on sale.)

Update is at end of review. So disappointed in our neighborhood Market Basket #21. I shop here often and I'm very careful, or so I thought, about reading the requirements of the sales. The display had several different varieties of such as Sprite, Dr pepper Zero, Coke. The sign said three for 12 and you must buy three. I proceeded to buy three. After looking at my receipt I realized that I was charged full price. When I called to inquire the manager informed me that it was only one of the flavors and not the others. I believe this is very misleading. The items that are on sale should be the only items in the display. Update: Market Basket reached out in a true hometown manner. Great job MB!
