Came upon Marine General Store while taking a casual drive outside of Stillwater, MN. The 173 year old building is a historic gem! The original front door and check out counter gave this General Store a true, authentic feel from a bygone Era. We spent our time looking over wonderful tasting goods from the deli and bakery (everything made on the premises!). Better than all the goods we purchased were the people we spoke with: down-to- earth, kind humans all around. The gentlemen overseeing the deli and checkout were friendly, helpful, and a delight to converse with. Several locals in the store also joined in conversations and we felt quite welcome. Being new to the area (MN), this was a great way to spend part of our day!
I love the Marine General Store. How cool is it to shop in the oldest continuous general store in the state? The food and deli are amazing, you can find classy cold drinks (Clearly Canadian, Weinhard's root beer, etc), and the kids love the candy selection. One of my indulgences is buying a day old bakery product on sale and devouring multiple servings. Please don't mind that the prices may be a bit higher than your normal grocery experience. This is a small business that strives to help the community with quality products and staffing. It's worth the extra buck. Enjoy the experience of pressing down the brass thumb latch on the door that is worn paper thin from over a century of satisfied customers. Anytime I'm in the area, I make a point of it to visit the store. I love the area so much, I hope to move to Marine when I retire.

Lovely old store in a beautiful town along the wonderful St. Croix River. Had carryout lunch that I ate at a picnic table across the street. There are no tables in the store to eat at.
Always enjoy stopping at the cozy Marine General Store on scenic Hwy 95 in any season when traveling to Taylor's Falls and the North Shore. Independently owned and operated, the store has a friendly staff and as the name implies, a little bit of everything including a fabulous deli, bakery, coffee, groceries, and helpful general merchandise. Located in the heart of the architecturally historic and walkable Marine on St Croix, there is ample green space, a river landing, and one of my favorite gazebos in Minnesota. Check it out!
Cute little place to get your essentials while in town with a good assortment of souvenir and gift items as well. All of your gas station type of merchandise as well as a deli counter. Everything is good about this place except the employee I encountered. He was not friendly and was quite rude and not personable at all.

This location isn't entirely accurate. I've been to the Marine General Store a few times, and it's just fine. But this time I was at The Village Scoop, an Ice Cream Store located behind the Marine General Store. I go there every year. It's a tradition that started when my kids were young. They are no longer young, and they weren't with me this time. The place had been remodeled, and it had really needed it. I got a scoop of Superman ice cream in a waffle cone. It was delicious.

Walk in and step back in time. Vintage general store with almost anything you would need if you’re camping in the area, or needed to pick up something you forgot. More selections than I thought there would be from looking on the outside. Pretty sure the hardwood floors are original if not the majority of the interior. It was fun to walk through the store.
Stop in for a sandwich or other fare from their deli! Turkey sandwich on cranberry bread was something I would try again. They have a lot of groceries and hardware here too - most of what you would need. A unique spot in a small town!

Marine General Store is a fun, little store in Marine on St. Croix. They have all the essentials of a grocery store and some touristy items and camping things too. The person running the place wasn't the least bit friendly when we stopped in and dropped $20 in a matter of 3 minutes.
