Usually the food is very good and it was good this time as well. I usually the chicken tacos which are good but God, all there food is so oily. Even if I put the oil aside I usually just drain it because it’s not that big a deal but this time, on my third taco I almost choked on a bone. It is extremely surprising the quality and standard of this place to allow a bone of this size in their food. When I went to the guy at the front, his whole response was Jee, how’d that get there! I just left. No point in arguing with him! Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes Tacos with Barbacoa Beef and Jarritos Pineapple Soda
Very disappointed in this meal. I was visiting for the weekend and in search of authentic Mexican food, decided to try Lupita’s and take a few of my daughters friends with us. For 8 people we spent about $140: I don’t mind that so long as the food is good, it was awful! Horchata tasted like water with sugar and cinnamon, flautas looked good but as you bit into them they were simply flavorless, the lettuce that accompanied the flautas was plain lettuce no pico, no tomatoes not even an attempt. The nachos were a mountain of oily “fried” chips with a sprinkle of chicken and some cheese. Birria quesadilla was an incredible let down and again no flavor, same with chicken quesadilla, and chicken tacos. Where they thrive is on portions- but who wants a large portion when the meal is bad? Where do I begin ... in short, you will not be disappointed if you are looking for something that feels authentic! Loved their selection of sauces, the meat was spiced perfectly, and the masa / tortillas were delicious. We took the food back to the hotel and it was just a good as eating in the restaurant. 10/10 would recommend, I got the tostada with beef barbicoa and the chicken flutas both were delicious. The tostada was so flavor full and the meat was extremely tender , I love the salsa bar they have on the side . The chipotle sauce is amazing. The chicken fluta was so crispy and delicious the crema on it is very good . My family is from Mexico so it’s hard finding a place I truly like but this place is so close to the real thing . The only bad thing is don’t let your food get cold or sit to long or else it gets soggy . Outstanding taste and value! For about $8 I got 2 empanadas, rice, beans, and small soda. I expected appetizer-size empanadas, but these were large, delicious, and filling. One of the friends I came with tried the lengua (tongue) tacos, and enjoyed them as well. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $1–10 Food: 5 Recommended dishes Empanadas

The quality of this food has changed over the years. There’s nothing sweet about the sweet plantains, the rice is so oily and salty. The taco meat is dry. The pico is unripened vegetables. HUGE disappointment. Cannot believe I wasted $20. I keep going back thinking it’s just the person working but no more. When I planned our trip to State College, I sought a local restaurant instead of a chain. I love Mexican food and this had good reviews so I gave it a chance. When we walked in, it wasn’t what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a place where you sit down and order instead of ordering at a counter (like fast food). The inside is colorful and authentic. We ordered the chicken flautas and chicken empanadas. When it was brought out, the empanadas were huge. Both were crunchy and very delicious. It kept us full for the rest of the day. I’ll be back if I visit State College again. Coming from the west coast, I find this town lacks good Mexican food. I just had the best burritto (hands down) I've ever had being here for 1.7 years. Don't waste your money at La plaza, Taco Hell, or Chipotle. This is where you go. Ty to the staff and tip my hat to the cook! I am blessed to work so near to Lupita's. For about $10 I can get an amazing lunch (today it was a gordita, a side of beans, and a small drink). The portion sizes are great and the food is delicious. They have a small salsa bar in the dining room that you can help yourself to. The space is casual; the food is served on paper plates on cafeteria trays. Service is friendly and quick. I am looking forward to many more meals. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

On a stopover to NY, staying at a nearby hotel, I went in for a snack and being from California, the menu didn’t look very interesting. I ordered the barbacoa beef, carnitas taco and a chicken empanada with a side of beans. Getting an assortment of salsas (which were very tasty), I returned to my hotel with my order and I was pleasantly surprised at the deep, rich flavors of all items, even the beans were more than the run of the mill paste. I would have returned to get another order but they had closed. Additionally, it’s BYOB! Enjoy.
