So happy I found this spot. It's the only one I know in this area (and one of the very few in Taiwan) that offer pretty authentic European-style bread (in this case French and Italian... And considering the name "lugar" maybe also Spanish?!). The taste is great, no sweet flavour as the local palate seems to prefer in so many cases, the crunchy texture and gooey inside is just right, the light sprinkle of flour on top of some breads is appreciated as well (dunno in Taiwan, but in Japan bakeries that do this need to explain to their customers that this is indeed flour and not mould). The selection of breads is limited, but this is a good sign for me that they focus on a few things and do these right. Highly recommended!
Amazing salmon Ciabatta sandwich! Great coffee. Just one thing, when you serve coffee it is important to give the customer spoons, sugar, milk or cream right away or have an area so one can find those right away. Is more convenient that way instead of asking and having the worker be confused about the request. 600nt for two coffees, 3 orange juices, 2 salmon sandwiches and a bagel. Not bad at all.
If I could give this place negative stars I would. I'm not sure how this place is getting good reviews - friends? I stopped in this place to grab a sandwich on my way to work & the guy at the counter convinced me to get a drink with the sandwich saying beers were 50% off if I order it with a sandwich. The beer I chose was 200 full price and he clearly confirmed to me that it would be 100 with the discount. When I went to pay my bill, I clearly didn't get the discount. He then changed his story and said he told me it was 15% off not 50% off almost practically calling me a liar with 'I never told you that' BS. If you're going to deceive customers like that you should tighten up your game and not give actual hard numbers like clearly stating the beer would be 100. I'm not sure why so many businesses in taipei lie to their customers. That definitely wouldn't be tolerated back in the US. It's a sure way to go out of business. He probably thought I was a stupid tourist. This guy is nothing but a lying snake. Stay far away from this place!
- And the grilled zucchini sandwich was also mediocre at best - barely there zucchini that wasn't grilled and completely lacking in seasoning - bland, bland, bland.
