The street corn was the highlight! Really tasty and perfectly grilled. The quesadilla was amazing as well!! The mac and cheese was really nice with spiced breadcrumbs on top. The enchiladas were the only thing we didn't like as much.

A Taqueria in hiding
A nice addition to Wellesley- a menu that speaks hacienda, with freshly prepared tacos. Korean Brussel Sprouts, Smoked Carnitas, & Short Rib Birria on corn tortillas provided a good first sampler- and they did not disappoint. Meats were savory, greens savory, and nicely balanced. Looking forward to sampling others off the list. Salads were also well portioned and sis not disappoint.
While I’m not understanding the restaurant’s name relative to the menu, should they continue to serve these fine, attractively-priced offerings alongside a cool margarita or cold beer, I shall not inquire..
Bonus free parking in the rear, plus a thoughtful kids menu that fits the resto’s theme.
We will return.
Update, 3wks later: continues to be a good bet. Fresh soft tacos, fresh cocktails. A winner.
I might be overhyping it by saying this, but i honestly think this is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. I’ve been-tried a lot. The staff and service was great and patient with my extended family, it was nicely decorated and clean, the menu was one from my dreams, and the food was perfect. Three of my favorite dishes were on their menu and done justice, poke, chicken wings and tacos. They really nailed it.

We were very disappointed with our visit to Lockheart. We had a reservation for 8:00pm and when we arrived our table was not ready. Finally we were seated and our waitress gave us waters then didn’t check on us for 30 minutes. When she did come back she took our drink and appetizer order. The appetizer came out very quickly however, it was room temperature. When our waitress returned she asked if we needed anything else, I asked how much longer our drinks would be. She said “you’ll have to remind me…” so we reordered our drinks. She was completely unapologetic and spending more time hugging her friends and chatting than waiting tables. At this point we had enough and got the check. We ended up going to the Cottage down the street and had a great meal.
*EDIT - We did not request to sit downstairs. We fully expected with a reservation we would be seated in the dining room*

We had a quiet lunch, Caesar salads, one with chicken, and two tacos, a chicken and a beef. Food is very pleasant, the room is pretty and service was excellent. The portion size was fine for lunch.
There's lots of parking in the lot behind the restaurant, with a convenient rear entrance. There is an elevator for handicapped diners using the entrance from the lot. There's a kid's menu, and vegetarian options. Gluten free diners would find choices, too.
Prices are moderate, the $100 meals mentioned by some reviews don't seem possible. They take reservations on Open Table.

The atmosphere was comfortable and the staff welcoming. The menu was promising, but the tacos did not deliver. The best item I ate was the street corn appetizer. I selected a variety of four tacos, including a poke taco, chicken, beef and pork, but unfortunately I couldn't tell them apart from one another, except for the one filled with beef and cheese, since that one poured grease when lifted. The flavors were bland and unappealing. The texture was mushy. Overall, I'd go back to sit at the bar and have an app, but wouldn't eat dinner there.

Lockhart was delicious, quick, and had great service! Stephanie was a fantastic waitress, and the booths were surprisingly comfortable. A gorgeous atmosphere and great apps and tacos; we will come back! Try the street corn and the Korean brussel sprouts taco.

Excellent southwestern food! We sampled a few offerings, all of which were terrific. From the sheet pan nachos with tender flavorful carnitas to simple chips and guacamole, or the spicy salmon tacos and brick chicken (1/2 chicken perfectly crisped on the outside and juicy on the inside), the food was outstanding. We finished off the meal with a decadent waffle sunday (the best they've ever had, said my teens).
Very glad to have crossed this off my "want to go" list!

I’m from Texas visiting my mom for the holidays. She recommended Lockheart, as she has eaten here twice before.
Made reservation for 8pm on Friday, January 5th. Was immediately seated, although at one of the two round tables in the center of the restaurant. Personal opinion is that the tables were too close together and that the overall ambiance is negatively affected by the very loud music and low booths. Restaurant is not set up for customers to hold a conversation.
Ordered the Chorizo and Shrimp Queso as an appetizer. Chips are just as good as any restaurant in San Antonio. Consistency of the queso was off; top was very watery while the bottom of the cast iron pan had cheese that wasn’t melted into a “queso”. Good portion for two people at $12.
Mom ordered the Short Rib Birria and the PBLT tacos. The birria is made with beef short ribs, so buyer beware that this isn’t actual birria. The tortilla did not appear to be dipped in the consommé prior to grilling. She enjoyed both tacos regardless. $6.50 for the birria and $6 for the PBLT.
I ordered the Brick Chicken plate. Twice the size of what the server said it was. This is a plate you could split between two people, as I was unable to finish it. It’s brined half chicken with roasted Brussels sprouts, carrots, sweet potatoes, and potatoes in a pepper herb glaze. Would definitely order again, but ask for the Brussels sprouts to be cooked a tad longer, to have more than a half inch bite of carrot, and for a side of the herb glaze. Seriously flavorful and a great value at $19!
Mom had a Michelob Ultra which was brought with a Stella Artois chalice. Average price for a restaurant at $6.
I love rye whisky and jump at the opportunity for a Manhattan. Tried the Black Walnut Manhattan for $15. Would order again or find something off of their seasonal menu.
Server was hospitable, but did a poor job describing the food items. Mom asked what her favorite taco was and received a response of “they’re all my favorite except for the seafood ones, I’m allergic”.
Manager brought out our food and was just as hospitable. Would love to try this restaurant again during the weeknight when it is less busy.
Keep up the hard work guys!

Took 10 minutes for our server to appear (walked by our table numerous times without acknowledging us). Very noisy. Food was very good. Nachos especially so. Inexpensive for the value. Interesting dishes that tempt us to return but likely the volume will keep us away.
