This was our first time eating here and everything from the appetizer to drinks to dinner to dessert was amazing! It had great ambience and our server, Maryssa, was excellent! She was very attentive with keeping our water glasses filled and clearing dishes quickly. We will definitely be back! Don't let the name and the BBQ menu fool you. This is not a typical Texas BBQ joint. This is fine dining with a Texas/Oklahoma twist. Great meat cuts, eccentric drinks, and fantastic service. I said I would never go back after our experience in January 2020. Service was poor and the Wagyu steak was like shoe leather and way overcooked. But decided to give them a second chance after friends kept saying how good it was. Last night we went back. The service was better this time. It was hard to hold a conversation due to a loud table seated next to us this was not the fault of the establishment. I ordered the Angus 10 oz. Sirloin, this time it was not over cooked and was quite tasty. However the steak was very tough definitely not prime beef, probably grass fed beef. Not worth the price. In all fairness my wife had the Shrimp and Grits which she said was very good, my son had the Pork Chop, and my daughter-in-law had the 8 oz. Angus Sirloin which she said was both tender and tasty. Amazing local place! The steak was juicy and quite delicious! Recommend the goat cheese risotto and the mushrooms as a side. The burger was quite tasty too, but a bit heavy with sausage, bacon and the patty. Try their apple cranberry dessert and the cocktails! I wanted so so bad to give a 5 star. Our servicer needed to be reminded to bring straws, lemons and the extra toast we ordered never even came. Our visit was at 4:15pm. No where near busy. We also had one of the hostess give us a “side eye” just bc we asked to see the art in the side location. Food was good. Nothing out of this world but good food. The decor is absolutely perfect. Every detail was done right. The location was clean and staff were dressed very well all around. Parking is great and easy. Construction doesn’t hinder getting there. This place was a recommend from a vendor across the street. Although there were vehicles in the parking lot, y'all hadn't opened yet. I'm interested in trying your Wagyu Beef.

Bar tender was was amazing atmosphere was great. Willing to come back and try other food. But the chicken fried stake was terrible. Bland and thin. It's not worth 27 bucks. Could slightly taste the freezer. Obviously, they have to serve frozen food to prevent food loss. I'd stick to the burgers if I were u. We came out for brunch and it was our first time at the Local Yocal BBQ restaurant. I've been wanting to come here for their dinners but haven't had the chance yet. The restaurant has their own parking lot. The place is down Louisiana just past McDonald Street. You could choose to park in proper McK dntn if you want to take a stroll after your meal and browse around the shops before you leave the area. There are boutiques, wineries, ice cream shops, a pie shop and lots of other great stops if that interests you. The Local Yocal restaurant is spacious and very clean. It has nice spacious seating. Our server was great and brunch was delicious and very filling. I hope to come back for a dinner some time. If you haven't stopped by their butcher shop, check them out. They have fantastic cuts of meat and other great items in their shop. If you follow their socials you'll see specials occasionally. I highly recommend both the restaurant and their shop. I had family visiting McKinney for the first time and wanted to impress them with great local food. Unfortunately, the fried chicken sandwich I was served was raw. Another person in our party was served a medium rare steak that was supposed to be medium well. It was embarrassing as we had built up our group's expectations and all left feeling less than satisfied with the meal. Our server was wonderful. She was the bright spot in the whole experience. The server and her manager apologized profusely and made it right with us. We appreciated the attention to our concerns. I am downgrading my Prior 5 star review accordingly. Prior Review: On a Friday night we were seated without delay. The server was cheerful and helpful in helping us choose from the menu. The food came out super fast. The dining area was clean and uncluttered. There were many people dining but it didn't feel crowded at all. We have dined at Local Yocal quite a few times and they never disappoint. Wonderful customer service by May! She deserves a raise! Delicious food, the best Mac & cheese with brisket and burgers. My husband prefers the Hamilton. So happy we decided to go here for lunch!
