Excellent scenery.....beautiful artwork. This is developed and they have tour guide that can give you a tour of the different murals and artwork at minimal cost. this helps the community with afternoon programs, community events among other things.
The tour is conducted in a professional yet down to earth manner in which we meet a member of Life Yard and are escorted through the various phases of the Life Yard project. Visitors get to see and experience the art pieces that are presented as murals in the different sections of Fleet Street ranging from the top of the street at the Holy Family Primary School down to a series of abandoned, yet structurally sound buildings, that are used as play areas for the kids of the area. The murals portray the energy, values and experiences of the community members. Come interact with and meet the community members and experience the rich culture that is Life Yard.
Experience the "ital" richness of the Rastafarian meals that are sold at Life Yard as you partake of the true beauty, openness and happiness of the community's cultural wealth.
A must-see for Kingstonians and visitors of Kingston. They make inexpensive delicious ital (vegan salt-free) meals and are next door to the spectacular Fleet street murals. The environment is very peaceful, rustic and the 15 Rastas who run it are very resourceful and friendly. Enjoyed looking around the farm and holding a reasoning with them. There's a bar there as well. Will be back!
When we were visiting Life Yard it was closed although Google maps opening times indicated it should be open.. then nearby residents told us it is permanently closed. Still worth to see the murals, but don't expect the ital restaurant or tour.
