The pork highway!! It was authentic and local to the Puerto Rican’s. We ordered grilled pork, yucca (had a garlic taste to it), PR version of tamales, and rice and beans. Also Piña colada!! The food was AMAZING! This is a must if you are traveling from San Juan to Ponce or driving just because, please come and stop by this pork highway. Before COVID and the hurricane, it was definitely more busy. We visited this year in November and there was only a few (two main restaurants opened) and a few souvenir stores. We still left happy and full!
Excellent food! The line to get it is worth it but it really can be better run in terms of efficiency.

The Guavate is one of those legendary places your won't find anywhere else in the world. Coming here is to have a full experience of what good food and a party lifestyle is in Puerto Rico. I can guarantee that you'll find something to pique your interest in almost every single restaurant and store. The atmosphere is 100 percent authentic and the food is an amalgamation of dishes you'll find from every corner of the island. The lechón is the main attraction of the place and you don't want to miss it either, but do yourself a favor and try something you otherwise wouldn't. You won't be disappointed. And get some souvenirs while you're at it.

Cuerito Pork Rind
This was the best stop for us on the pork hwy - our first time visiting Puerto Rico. Our server, Melony, was sweet and patient with our very limited Spanish. (She is quite fluent in English.) Have the pork and macaroni and cheese with a mojito. Also, there was decent live music and a nice view here. BE CAREFUL PARKING. A go to place, for sure.

Just an overhyped place where tourist wants to go because they read about it. This was exactly my situation as well.
Yeah it's 'cool' to see the pigs and chicken hang outside at the corner but the meat was dry and the sides where dry as well.
You'll get more taste and tenderness when you buy a precooked chicken from the supermarket.
