I am very happy we tried Layline despite some negative feedback I’ve heard. The food was excellent. Oysters were scrumptious, appreciate the fresh horseradish and delicious mignonette. We were all raving about the Brussels sprouts, unique flavors that were spot on. Duck fat fries with truffle Mayo, yum. For our entrees we chose the sea bass, scallops and mushroom tagliatelle, all excellent and cooked to perfection. The pineapple with the sea bass didn’t make sense, seemed more like an after thought on the plate but I would order again as the fish was cooked to perfection. The one area that could use some attention would be the service. We asked for water multiple times and asked for our dishes to be cleared in between courses. Not a big deal, very minor. Service was pleasant and all the dishes and drinks made it to our table in a timely manor. I look forward to returning! Layline Seafood Restaurant is a real win for the town of Excelsior, MN. We’ve waited a bit to get in on their schedule for a Friday evening dinner, and Daniel Del Prado’s new restaurant did not disappoint. Our table tried the Ahi Tuna Crudo appetizer; it was good (but lacked flavor). I liked the watermelon and grapefruit, but some added fresh watercress would bring a bit of needed zing to it. My main entre of Seared Sea Scallops with roasted butternut squash was superb. The bits of accompanying granny smith apples were a great addition. I often order scallops when dining out – and I’d rate theirs as the best. I already look forward to enjoying it again. The service was excellent; we enjoyed the pleasantness of our well-informed water. The carbonara pasta is good (a lot of pasta) tasting. I recommend the roasted carrots for a side. I had the Forest Floor Martini, as we were told it was very “herbaceous.” However, they could not cut back the vodka and I could barely taste the spruce tips and rosemary, which are excellent flavors together. That was disappointing. For the limited space they have, the conversion from a garage repair shop to a bistro is done really well with a nice bar in the back with seating. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant. They extended the seating area quite a bit, where it's bumped out in front with seasonal windows all around. The garage doors were up, and it opened between the two seating areas. Limited parking. However, we love the town of Excelsior, and walking a bit is pleasant. Nice sidewalk, with two modern fire pits, and nicely landscaped with new trees and lighting. We don’t mind being charged 5% for kitchen help – we know that good help is hard to get—delightful staff. We are thrilled to have this local seafood dining option. Highly recommended. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Awesome to have in town. Food was excellent. Service was good. Nice patio out front. Ordered the Sea bass and it was great. My wife had scallops and those were also very good. Our table tried all sides and appetizers (we are weird like that) and they were all amazing. We're will be back. Ps. My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this place! The food was amazing and the drinks were phenomenal.the atmosphere was very cozy and intimate. We definitely will be returning. We got the oysters, calamari, lobster roll, and the steak. Only down side I would say is that the calamari was overloaded with veggies. I thought we got a large plate of it and was pleasantly surprised but after digging in we quickly realized it was mostly veggies. Great local option, service was very slow but was busy and loud on th night we wanted to try dessert but just couldn’t keep waiting. Calamari too fried, lots but tiny. Carrots get, tuna great light flavor. Burger awesome but for $19 add a few fries, carbonara pasta awesome, delicita squash salad great too. Will be back to try more things. Another great Daniel Del Prado restaurant! Go here for the atmosphere because it is similar to his other restaurants. There was not anything outstanding about the food. It was great food, but nothing that I need to have again. The best dish was the Mango Sticky Rice for dessert; it is definitely worth a try if you like fruity flavors. Overall, it is a cute neighborhood restaurant, and we will return again in the future! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A quality double cheeseburger from Daniel del Prado’s latest - Layline in Excelsior. The cheese was American, pickles dill, and the sauce a secret. We had a few other items that were all very good, especially the scallops & shrimp cocktail. Don’t miss the chanterelle mushroom side either, almost like a Thanksgiving stuffing. Looking forward to our next visit. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Food was good, but there is far better in the area for the same price. The extra 5% for kitchen help on top of the already high prices is just a way for the restaurant to skip paying their kitchen help a good wage. Paying non-customer facing employees is the responsibility of the restaurant, if you need to add 5% then add it to the cost of menu and pay your employees better. I had very high hopes for this one. Service and atmosphere was great. Cocktails were unique. The food however was just alright. Food looked and sounded good but was overly salty with little other flavors coming through. At $100/person it just didn't check enough flavor boxes to return. The best place in Excelsior. The staff is still getting into the swing of things, but the atmosphere, menu, and decor is absolutely what downtown Excelsior needs. The duck fat fries are to die for. Burger and pasta were awesome. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Cheeseburger
