This lodge is absolutely perfect if you’re looking for peace, quiet, beauty and simplicity. The log cabin was spacious and had everything needed, just a minor issue with not enough lighting due to bulbs or switches not working. I would return there any chance I get!
If you are looking for a quiet place you must give a try to this lodge. Is inside the forest and you will sleep in one of the 12 chalets available. Chalets are well equiped, clean and "cozy". You will get lumber to make a fire at the living room chimeny, which is really nice. Staff is nice and helpful. To improve is to update website, as describes activities/services available such us order dinner 24 hours in advance which is not available unless certain number of peoples orders, or horse riding which lodge can not provide anymore.
I really enjoy this place. For me, as a photographer, the landscapes and the bird life make this place great. It is really quiet, and you find rest for your soul. The wind in the trees and the birds singing. It true is amazing

We visited the lodge over December and the nature setting is beautiful with ample wildlife and convenient hiking & MTB trails as well as a dam where you can kayak.|However the self catering accommodation is very dated, the carpets and furnishing is damaged with cigarette burns. We also had a little resident rat in our chalet. |Sundowners on the deck is still great and atmosphere is relaxing, the chalet is very cosy with tranquil surrounds, just the dated accommodation is a big negative.|Hopefully there will be upgrades soon and chalets will be maintained.
This place never ceases to to amaze. Peaceful, tranquil, stunning. Make sure to sign petitions preventing the proposed coal mining in this area. Love coming here. Staff all great and friendly. Price per person R 300–350

Set in the forest with gorgeous views of dams, sunsets and beautiful horses. You can go for walks. Enjoy the quietness in your log cabin. |A lovely place to relax and unwind with your partner or family. The staff always friendly and welcoming. We will be back soon.
Perfect setting in a forest surrounded by pine trees. The cabins are cold but the fireplace heats everything up nicely. Bibi the lodge cat kept us company all weekend. Xoli at reception was friendly and accommodating. Ultimate relaxation. We took the boat out on the bass dam. Pity the bird observatory is not there anymore. Peaceful and relaxing, and the electric blankets keep the chills away. Recommended retreat

We spent two nights in the 4-sleeper chalet! The views are stunning. The Chalet is clean and beautifully maintained and decorated. There is a lovely 6km brick road all the way to reception so no need to drive on a dirt road. The walks & cycling route is fantastic. The staff was friendly and tried to assist when they could. We will definitely be back. You will not regret staying here!||||Possible recommendations to the lodge: ||- If there could be a mini-kiosk at the reception to buy basic medication (i.e. grandpa) and groceries (i.e. milk). This would have saved us time from having to leave the lodge at 6pm at night to drive to find the nearest shop which was in Dullstroom or Belfast to buy two grandpa tablets. ||- Open & Close times of reception. We went to reception during lunch (around 12pm and then again at 2pm) but the reception and restaurant was closed on the 16 September 2017, Saturday. We went back that evening (around 5:30pm) and it was still closed. All the doors were locked and there was no staff members. This was sad since we wanted to sit by the deck and order a dessert and drink. We drove to Dullstroom since it was closed and was helped there. ||-Hiring of fishing rods would have been great

We spent the last three nights of our holiday here, and what a relaxing way to end it. The staff were very friendly and the cabins, which were cleaned each day, are beautifully made and set amongst the trees. We look forward to returning here in the future

What a waste of a weekend! The furniture in unit 8 is stained and damaged. A cupboard door handle is missing. The dresser mirror is broken. Needs a good dusting. The Weber braai is broken and stands so crookedly that the lid won't stay on. Activities-wise there is no fly-fishing and looks like there hasn't been for many years. The dams are completely choked with grass and unreachable due to the reeds. Didn't see any bicycles for rent. There is wi-fi apparently, which would be good as there is very limited signal, but you have to ask for the password. Supper was tastefully presented, and quite tasty. If the pictures in reception are anything to go by this was a good spot in years gone by but it's well past its best.
