very unfriendly and bad service from managment towards regulars! (the malawian chap was amazing, this does NOT include him)
will definitely not buy at LaCotte Inn again! do you want business or not?
Huge range of SA wines, knowledgable staff and do not miss the cellar downstairs with many great wines from across the world. Best prices.for Chocolate block wines
What a wonderful experience. It's like visiting a library full of special edition books and having Charles, the salesperson, tell you the story about each one in a such a way that you can't wait to take it home and read it. Will always love this store for the experience of buying wines. 🙌🏻
What an awesome little wine shop. A huge selection of wines and spirits. The atmosphere was lovely. Playing records on a real record player. They have a cheese counter with a selection of some of the most delicious cheeses from France. The staff for were also helpful and friendly. Well worth a visit in Franschoek. Lovely!
I have spent a considerable sum of money purchasing wine at this store over a number of years. Late last year, when considering changing from buying SA wine to buying some of the expensive French wines that they sell, I asked Charles, a very long standing employee, if I could return any bottles that turned out not to be fit for sale (i.e. corked, etc.) as is normal with wine merchants in most countries. Charles assured me that it would not be a problem. One of the first wines I opened turned out to be undrinkable. That’s where the problem began. I emailed the store to inform them of the bad wine and ask if I could return the still full bottle and receive a store credit. An email exchange lasted several weeks, whereby a response to my latest email had to be asked for more than once. The result was that the store refused honour their promise and, instead offered to inform the importer and see what they would offer. I pointed out that La Cotte Inn’s promise was not conditional on the actions of any importer. They chose not to honour their commitment to me and instead blamed the importer for their own tardiness in replying to me! I feel no need to patronise any business that shows such as lack of integrity, professionalism and courtesy and will never return there. Be warned. Sadly you cannot give zero stars.
We stayed next door..... move your generator!! It's too close to adjacent properties. The whole house vibrates, wakes us up at 2.00am or 4.00am Completely selfish, you could move it 100m down the road!!
Delightfully authentic store for all things wine and cheese. For locals and visitors alike, La Cotte is THE wine destination in Franschhoek, offering a great selection of wines from the valley as well as the best that the rest of the Cape Winelands have to offer. Downstairs in the cellar, you will find a selection of wines from France, Italy, Germany, Spain as well as Australia and New Zealand - which you wouldn't find at your "normal" liquor store.
Then, to round things off, there is a wonderful selection of personally selected imported French cheeses - again something that you won't find at your retailer around the corner. Simply irresistible.
