We started our evening intending to dine at Guiseppe's down the street but they had a two hour wait. This turned out to be the best thing that could have possibly happened since we decided to walk a bit and look at other options. We aren't big seafood people but found enough intriguing options on the menu at La Bodega to give it a try. So, just..wow. What a great meal. Service was fantastic. Wine was outstanding. We thought the food portions might be small but they actually we just fine. We had the Chorizo Empandas and darn near got into a fight over them. Then the BBB Slide, which were also raved over. The creme brulee cheesecake was good but not as good as the Whiskey in a Jar (bread pudding). All the wines were local. Serving staff could not have been better and the whole aesthetic is definitely not the tackiness I've come to associate with Pismo Beach. We expect to become regulars here. Excellent food. Enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates, winter citrus salad, pork tenderloin and steak bites dishes. Sauces are deliciously spiced. Some dishes take a really long time to prepare. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
Just had "dinner". We were there almost 2 hours and only got drinks and Flatbread. Our ticket for sliders got lost somehow. ??? We did get cheesecake pretty quickly, but there was no compensation for the lost food. Left hungry and unhappy. Bradford and Eric were very helpful and helped walk us through this interesting and eclectic menu. This was one of the best experiences we've had in some time. The fresh ingredients and attention to detail were spot on. Solid cocktails and wine menu is well. Do yourself a favor and stop an enjoy yourself at this amazing restaurant. We loved this amazing find! They catered to my being gluten free. The chef came to visit us and they take great care on everything being fresh and locally sourced. Bradford and Eric were amazing. The cocktail superb and their suggestions for wine excellent. Loved every minute. Food outstanding. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Every time I return here I chastise myself for not returning more often. Everything they put on the table is excellent (local sourced and farm to table). Full stop. Because it’s Spanish tapas style we try multiple dishes each time we go, and because they change their menu every month there are always new offerings to try. Certain customer favorites — like the scallops and paella — remain available each month. New experiences on my recent visit included the shrimp and grits, chorizo empanadas, Devils on Horseback (bacon wrapped dates). The specialty cocktails are wonderful — I recommend the Fire and Ice! Save room for the desserts — I loved the red velvet cake and skillet brownie! I took home a small bag of grab and go scones for breakfast the next day. They were perfect. One of the best parts of going here is the interaction with the owners, Teresa and John. They “work the room”, chatting with the guests in a way that makes you feel like you’re having a meal in their backyard. Teresa toils in the kitchen so she knows every detail about everything they serve. The atmosphere is warm and casual, very inviting. Their excellent wait staff reflect the atmosphere. They don’t take reservations but if you have to wait it’s more than worth your time.
