Stopped here for lunch - everything was 10/10. The service was amazing, and our server was extremely friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly, and was extremely good. We got the spicy pad thai, the awesome noodles w/ shrimp, spring rolls, crab rangoons, and moon dumplings. We sat at the counter and the view is amazing. We definitely will be returning! I used to love this spot! I would come in every other week. One day, they no longer offered the most items on the menu, and if they did they were increased by at least 20%. I ordered two custard buns- both were extremely chewy I felt like I was chewing a piece of gum or chewing bread and the custard part wasn't even warmed, a small amount of it was stuffed into one side of the bun. And the next huge disappointment were the Thai fried wings. They be were oily and stuffed in a box. Then I was strongly recommended to the coconut cream pudding. I asked the quantity. I was told that one order contain 3-4 middle-sized bowls. The only good item that I would possibly go back for is the pineapple fried rice. I ate the chewy buns because I thought they were the original ones. I spent over $40 I'm basically a pineapple fried rice. I have my receipt, and pictures of the food shown. I highly doubt that I will bring my business back. Instead I plan on telling my co-workers and showing them what I received for $40. I'm heating up the pineapple fried rice- it's extremely dry and has no distinct spices. †*************If management would love to get ahold of me that would be great. I came here to eat lunch with a friend because we read great reviews about how amazing and authentic the food here is. However, we left here feeling disappointed. Lets start with the positives. The decor was nice and the papaya salad was good. It was citrusy, fresh, crisp, and had the makings of a tasty salad. I didn’t expect there to be romaine lettuce on there, but I’m guessing this is the Americanized rendition. I would have loved to see dried shrimp on the salad because that would have added another layer of crunch and saltiness that would have complemented well with the acidity of the dish. Let’s move on to the mains. My friend and I both got the curries. I got a “special House curry”. I appreciate the amount of vegetables they had on the dish, and it was cooked thoroughly. The curry itself, however, was a tragedy beyond belief. It was watery, lacking in flavor and spices, and was just not an enjoyable meal to eat. Thai curries are typically rich, decadent, and a bit creamy, and this dish did not properly represent those profiles. The server was also a bit cold to us, which did not help enhance our dining experience. Would I recommend that you eat here? Absolutely not. There are plenty of other Thai restaurants in downtown New Haven that provide better food and hospitality. Frankly, the food served here is an insult to Thai cuisine.
