We went to Kona after a long day. Our server, Savannah, was amazing. She was on top of the refills for our drinks and did a great job getting the orders right as my youngest son is very specific when he orders. The food was hit when it came out and tasted great. Went to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant was packed to the brim and very loud. The server was new and was doing his best he asked about allergies and we were very impressed with that! The food was only okay and not worth the $150 for 2 people. I got a couple of sushi roles and one had everclear poured over it and lit on fire. All I could taste was burnt rice and everclear. My other got the fish and chips and was soggy. The drinks from the bar took forever 15-20min for shots of sake shots and the margaritas were basic with flavors poured over them. The first time I went to Kona I was thoroughly unimpressed by the sushi. The quality was roughly the same as sushi I can get from the supermarket. For that reason I hadn’t been back in a year, until today because I was given a gift card. Since the sushi was so lackluster I ordered a steak to-go curbside pick up to be picked up at 615. I arrived at 610 and called the number on the sign. I was told the food wasn’t ready yet but it would be in 5 min and that they would bring it out as soon as it was ready. At 620 I called again and someone else said the food wasn’t ready and they were going to go to the kitchen to get it and bring it out to me. At 630 I walked it and saw a line of 5 bags of food waiting to be taken out to cars and my food was in the middle of the group. My name clearly written on the bag. I called the manager over to explain and his first response was to blame me for calling the wrong number. I showed him my phone to show the number I called and he dialed it to confirm that I had called the right number. After that all he had to say was “I don’t know what happened” and “I’m sorry”. No offer to help to make it right, or anything. I took my food to the car, opened it up and the steak was ice cold. It had clearly been sitting there for more than just a couple minutes.
