I hired a driver who took me to Doi Tung and we stopped at this place on the way to Mae Sai since he wanted me to try Khao Soy. The menu on the wall was in Thai but you should be able to order Khao Soy with either beef or chicken. The food was very good and cheap.

เป็นน้ำเงี้ยวออกแนวไทใหญ่ คือจะไม่เข้มข้นเหมือนน้ำเงี้ยวที่เรากิน ๆ กัน แต่อร่อยมาก เป็นทางผ่านในหลาย ๆ จุด หรือเลี้ยวเข้ามาจากถนนใหญ่ Another style of northern spicy tomato noodle soup (Nam Ngeeao, Tai Yai like) and have good side dishes e.g. Kao Foon Todd (a fried Tai Yai rice cake)

北タイ名物のカオソーイのお店です。鶏肉か牛肉かを選べます。凄く美味しいです。豆腐の唐揚げも美味しかったです。わざわざ遠くから食べに来る人が多いそうです。英語や日本語などは全く通じません。 Doi Tungへの旧道沿いにあるのですが、観光客は全く来ません。本当の地元の料理を楽しめる店ですが、街の中心からは遠いため自家用車が無いと来るのは難しいと思います。 Doi Tungに観光に行くついでに寄ってみるといいでしょう。久しぶりに美味しいカオソーイを食べました。

Wir assen zwei Kauwsoi (Suppen mit Nudeln), einmal mit Rindfleisch und einmal mit Hühnchen. Es war einfach himmlisch gut. Und das sage und schreibe von nur 40 Bath pro Schüssel.
