This is a fun diner style restaurant. We stopped in for breakfast. I had the eggs, potatoes and ham. The ham was really dry/well done and potatoes were not cooked through, but the eggs were good. My husband had the Mac nut pancakes. Basically they were pancakes with a bunch of nuts on top. The pancakes were really good. It’s a cute place. The service was good but not personable. She took the order and left. No small talk but they were busy so our social want to have a conversation personalities had to take a backseat. Overall def stop in and have a meal. It’s a cute diner with decent food! Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

We stopped in for lunch as we were making our way around the Big Island visiting the sites. Awesome diner with home cooked food and helpful and courteous employees. Prices are expensive but already expected that when I visit Hawaii from the mainland. I had the loco moco and it was excellent. Definitely recommend if you're in the area. A cute little diner that has a wide variety of breakfast options & even spaghetti Prices are pretty expensive here such as omelettes over $20. The food is big portions so maybe think about sharing a me. Employees were very helpful & diner seemed to be very clean, even after I took the menu to take a picture someone came over to ask if they could help me & when I put the menu down she asked an employee to wipe down the menu I just touched. Anyhow it might be worth a stop, heck you might run into The Rock!

This place is amazing. When you get out, you feel happy. Staff is very kind and enthusiastic, especially a cheerful, colorful lady named John-nee that I totally fell in love with. Food is spectacular: we are usually committed to try different restaurants while visiting new places but we keep coming here for our breakfast. Simply, the best🩵 They have homemade syrups for pancakes which are delicious: coconut flavour is a must-have. Everything was really good here. No complaints. We went to Hilo for the day and came for breakfast. Best pancakes. We had.... Mac nut banana pancakes Corn beef hash Benedict Original Benedict Loco moco. The Mac nut pancakes were the best. The Benedict was good but not amazing The Loco moco is great. All the syrups are good. The place is crazy clean! Like clean clean. Very friendly service It's worth coming here if you are in the area. Get the pancakes! This was by far my worst dining experience anywhere on the big island. I have no idea how this place is supposedly so highly rated. After a bit of a wait to be seated, we were rushed to a table and left to languish for 20 minutes before a server even came to our table. The waitress was profoundly unfriendly and completely disinterested in serving customers. She seem to just want to rush through as quickly as possible and get the check back on our table. The hash browns are literally soggy grated potato that appears to have been fried for about 20 seconds and then dumped on your plate. The eggs Benedict were reasonable. The table and condiments were dirty and sticky. The local seem to like this place, but if you’re coming from out of town, or don’t appear to be a local, you seem to be relegated to the least important customer. Would definitely not recommend and would never return. Very sad as I was looking forward to this place as it came highly recommended to me by others that have been here before. This place lived up to the hype for us. We went in the evening around 7pm on a Wednesday and it was only about 1/3 full. Staff was super friendly and had nice Hawaii vibes. Leilani our server was sweet and convincing on some of the tasty dishes we opted for. This has been our favorite overall dining experience ever to be honest. The music and decor set the mood for us, but then the quick service, pleasant staff and finally the amazing (diner style) food gives it a A+ We shared every dish. Starting with the split pea soup and homemade guava sweet roll was the most basic part of the meal and was still excellent for a diner. Then onto a Prime Rib (end cut of course) meal which was 8/10. The pancakes were more basic but good, that was until they took out the homemade syrups (coconut, guava and passion fruit) 9/10. The omelet was unreal good. No sauce needed! Finally we wrapped up with the pineapple upside down cake. So freaking good! What we are trying to say is, we are going back tomorrow 😈 Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
24 hour school diner with 🔥 food. We tried the Mac nut pancakes and a plate of the Portuguese sausage. Pancakes were made fresh and fluffy. Came with 3 different types of syrup. Lilikoi, guava, and coconut. There’s standard maple but go with the unique syrup flavors. Staff was friendly and our server is like your aunt taking care of you when you’re at her house. Super sweet woman. Recommend checking this spot out while you’re in Hilo! Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Macadamia Nut Pancakes and Portugese Sausage Omelette
This place is a MUST visit when you're in Hilo - a uniquely Hawaiian take on the increasingly rare classic American diner. It's got the lot - Hawaiian grandmas fussing over you and making sure you get the best experience possible, serving sizes that will kill you, and local cuisine and versions of the full-on diner experience. As an international tourist: be assured that this is the only meal you will need today. As an American: hold on right and get ready for something familiar and yet very local and of the island. Get the French toast with a side of bacon, and order a variation you wouldn't get at home. You're only here once. Service Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Ken's House of Pancakes has been "Jammin since 1971" Dining in at Ken's feels like you're in the 70s and 80s, with the old school dinner aesthetic and music. Very popular with locals and tourist a like. Must try there breakfast and entrée dishes. I recommend trying the homemade corned beef hash and eggs for breakfast. Great customer service, especially when the restaurant gets busy during breakfast. Overall excellent experience. Definitely come back when you're in Hilo.
