Our server was extra attentive but not overly so. Tried the new pork belly buns and was surprised by how great they were. The attention to detail including the scented hand towels push this restaurant over the top in the affordable section. I took my five year old here last night for a little dinner date. We did the hibachi and he absolutely loved it! Our chef was so fun - will definitely be going again. We had an amazing time celebrating my Great Nieces 21st Birthday. At one point the chef bet my Nephew he couldn't catch a piece of shrimp he was fixing. He tossed the shrimp and my Nephew CAUGHT IT WITH HIS CHOPSTICKS! 😂 The chef should have paid up. Hahahaahahaah! J/K. It was fun and the food was great. Did the grill table in the sushi bar and Yummy! Meat was tender, and very well marinated. Loved the sauces that came with, too -- especially the garlic sauce and spicy sauce. Next time will definitely get extra veggies to go with it too. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I had the best sashimi here! Katsu Ya of Japan in Appleton is a great Japanese restaurant on College Ave. They have hibachi, sushi and Yakiniku options. We selected sushi but will be back to get Yakiniku. I highly recommend their Torched New Style Sashimi which is torched salmon and snapper topped with cilantro, fresh ginger and ponzu. The food was absolutely amazing! The eel was delicious! But the waitress was a b*tch honestly. She had attitude when grabbing the menus from us, barely came over to the point both my friend and I were sitting with nothing to drink for 20 minutes. Then when it came time to leave we waited 10 minutes before having to ask someone else for our check, then when she brought it out she shoved it at us and went “here you go” all snobby then stood there with her arms crossed while we were looking at the receipt. I don’t know what her name was but it was the one with longer curly hair and glasses. Again, the food was delicious but her attitude was horrible! Very large place with great food. We had about an 1.5hr wait but we walked around downtown and hung at the bar while we waited. No yumyum sauce but had some mayo based spicy sauce that wasn't a bad substitute. Great show and fun staff. Good drinks for a great price. Never disappointed when it comes to this place. The service is always outstanding, the food taste absolutely delicious, and it never takes long to arrive either. If ever in the Appleton area— this is a must dine-in-restaurant; that I highly recommend. The ambience is simply exquisite and the decor is superb. My family and I had a good time at the restaurant. The only thing that I would say was a bit confusing was choosing between the 2 dining options. It took the hostess some time to explain it to us as well as the couple that was before us. Maybe there is a way to get the explanation simplified perhaps with visuals. Once we were sitted though we enjoyed our food. We were able to cook our own dishes and had plenty of rice. The meats were sliced and prepared well, bit sized. My daughter enjoyed the sushi and mochi dessert. The total bill for us was over a $135 for 4 of us. The experience was nice, the ambience was great, and we were full.
