Located in Woodbridge, right beside Route 1; this tex mex place was recommended by a friend of mine. The ambiance gives you a feel of sitting at a restaurant in Texas whereas the service is pretty quick with the server being friendly. They have a bar table where people are really chilling out which actually seems enjoyable. Coming over to the food, I had ordered Tejas chicken as an appetizer. It's a fried chicken put on a skewer and is dipped in buffalo sauce. It was accompanied by a ranch on the side. The sauce was good though. Tbh, the fried chicken was crispy but would have been better with some other sauce than buffalo, that's what I felt! For mains, I had ordered Chicken Tacos. The tacos were accompanied by guac, sour cream, pico de Gallo, fresh salsa and fries on the side. The chicken was well cooked and it was a pulled chicken. The taco was really soft, whereas the guac and sour cream were good. Salsa was my favorite as it was really fresh along with fries which were crispy and thinly sliced. Jose Tejas was excellent! Our server, Arlene, was really polite and checked in on my friends and me regularly. It’s a family-like atmosphere with great energy and the food is really really good. If you’re looking to go, make sure you go about half an hour before they get busy (use Google Maps to identify when that happens) so that you can get a seat within 5-10 mins. We’ll be back soon! I've been coming here since I was a kid and was happy to hear my parents suggest it for a dinner out. We were seated immediately. The lighting and decorations here are awesome, and the music is quite loud. Azusena was our server, and she was very nice and attentive. The chips and salsa that come out to the table before the meal are amazing! The chips are hot and the salsa is flavorful. For my meal, I ordered a chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla was packed to the brim with meat and cheese, which I loved. It came with sour cream, although I wish I had asked for extra. I felt that the chicken quesadilla was a good price, about $13, for what it was, especially since I filled up on chips and salsa beforehand. My family members were satisfied with their meals, too, so this place was a total win. From the moment we sat down, Phil's professionalism and attentiveness were truly impressive, setting the standard for exceptional service. Phil's keen attention to detail enhanced our dinner, creating a seamless and enjoyable experience. Phil's dedication to ensuring our satisfaction was evident throughout the evening. The pastelitos we ordered as an appetizer were well seasoned and tasteful to start our meal, and the chicken and shrimp tacos for the entree were equally delicious. The quality of the food, combined with Phil's outstanding service, made for a memorable dining experience at Jose Tejas. I’d like to start with praising the speed the staff at this establishment move. I have never seen anything like it. I was sat with my family facing the entrance & exit to the kitchen. The staff was NON STOP! It was very impressive to watch. We were sat within 10 mins as promised at their podium. Ezequiel was friendly, professional & very accommodating to us and my children. The drinks, appetizers & food were all served with great presentation and timing as well. Ezequiel checked in on us, he brought out anything requested pretty quick.
