Came here because our original destination was slammed. Sat down quickly and got drinks but food took about an hour to come to the table. Food seems priced fairly for portions but portions are far bigger than any one person could eat in one sitting and food would not be good warmed up at home. Beignets were covered in powdered sugar straight from the fryer so they came to the table wet. Should have been patted dry or something to reduce oil so the sugar didn’t turn into a paste coating. If it's Southern order it because it will be good, anything else not so much. Shrimp n grits great! Pulled pock and mac n cheese great! They brag about Legendary french toast & they have a big sign with a list of syrups like strawberry, guava, blackberry, etc... but if you order the french toast the only option is maple syrup. To be honest the french toast is nothing to brag about, it looks better than it tastes. Sadly the owner lady has the personality of a gnat. As I test I asked what grits were and the server dude said he did not know but thought it was some type of grain. Oh my the food here is amazing, no it is amazingly amazing. The service has improved since the first time I went, I swore that I would never go back despite the food being some of the best I ever had. No joke, the food is that good. I was going to take my friend to Brick & Mortar but they had a 45 minute wait and that was just too long for us, so I decided to give Jo Jo Macs a second try. Glad I did, the service was much better than before, still not good, but the food was even better than before and I didn't think that was possible. Edit: After going back several times now the food is still amazing and the service is now not the worst I have ever had but it is pretty close. The staff is friendly but the owners should concentrate on making the food and hire someone else to interact with the customers. Speed of service is abysmal, my coffee is often cold before I get cream to put in it. I consistently get the feeling that customers are considered to be an unpleasant nuisance that they have to put up with instead of welcomed guests. But the food is still worth it.
