Issy's is a lovely hidden gem in Forest town. I probably had my best cup of cuppucino here. However, the bagel was just okay for me.
Lovely seating areas you can choose to be either indoors or outdoors
Just remember, you have to place your order first by the counter, and the menu is on the wall. For my first time being there, I felt that they could have explained that to me.
Parking available.
Lovely 🙂

Hot tip. Independent coffee shops, located within cultural precincts (like institutes, museums or art galleries). Are sometimes hidden to the public. But locals know better. These spot have the best coffee and specialities. So much better than a multi national coffee chain. Issy’s confirms the rule. Their bagels are delicious. Staff friendly. Free parking below. Also there’s the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide centre. It is a space intended to raise awareness of the Holocaust & genocide in Rwanda
This is a cafe attached to the Johannesburg Genocide and Holocaust Centre. It's a lovely little spot just to the left of the entrance gates. It's well suited for breakfasts and brunch.
I had the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on a bagel (my second bagel ever and it was delicious, I am sold, bye-bye ciabatta). The staff is friendly and eager to connect and serve.
They offer Truthery juices, which are lovely blends, for those hot Joburg days.
Issy's has a retail shelf with potential take home items. Be warned.
It's a lovely little place. The service wasn't the best and the door being opened and closed continuously was a little distracting. And when not closed, it was freezing. Other than that, I really loved the bagels and the chairs are comfy.

The menu is a bit limited to mainly breakfasts and wraps and that kind of food, but very freshly served. The Salmon is very fresh. The service was great. We really enjoyed our brunch and a visit yo the museum thereafter. The Holocaust museum is a must if you find that type of history interesting (history and not, as it still happens even right now).

The staff are exceptionally rude. There are no prices on any of the goods in the shop or the menu, a coffee for R 50, that's ridiculous. Everything the learners wanted to order, food wise, they were told, it was out of stock. A bracelet was quoted at R80 and was rung up at R100. When my daughter queried it she was told to stop negotiating. She noticed that some pieces on the bracelet were broken and went back to ask for her money back but again staff were rude and unhelpful. If you want people to spend some money you need to retrain your staff and teach them that a customer counts, no matter who it is!
It’s so cool to live by such a wonderful coffee & breakfast spot. The staff are wonderful and the food is tasty. I love the bagels & challah french toast.

Hidden gem with good coffee, a good breakfast and very friendly staff. Makes a nice change from some of the trendier coffee spots around. Only gripe is the lack of prices on the menu.
