I went to this place with my wife and her service dog and one of the employees kept insinuating that my wife’s dog is a fake service dog even though he is well trained, this situation made her feel very uncomfortable. She doesn’t like to argue when she doesn’t feel welcome at a business so we did take out. We are visiting NY from Florida so we ate at a park even though it’s cold so this situation was very inconvenient for us. She said her brother has a service dog and has an “ID” which is definitely a lie unless he’s a fake service dog since the US does not issue ids for service dogs. If needed to prove to an authority you can show a doctors letter but you are not required to show that to restaurants… I am writing this review hoping that the manager can fix this issue for future customers so they don’t have to go through this. Other than that, the place looks nice, the bartender was also nice to us and made a good cup of coffee, the food was also delicious.

Go to the Iron Gate Cafe for a delicious Capital District breakfast or brunch. The service is great and there are gluten free and vegan options. The atmosphere is old world charm with original stain-glass windows and doors.

My mom & I ate breakfast here everyday for 3 days straight. Our Airbnb was just a few short blocks and we were so pleased to find this gem. The restaurant is beautiful inside & out, everyone was so kind & attentive, the food & drinks were delicious!!!! AND they are dog friendly 🐶 We had Shannon as our waitress twice and she was absolutely the best!!! She even remembered us from our 1st day there. I highly recommend the apple cider mimosa!
