I just dropped by for the second time last Saturday with some old friends, and ran into some other old friends while we were there. Expect a decent wait time. It's not bad for downtown Coeur D'Alene. It's always worth the wait. The burgers and pie are delicious and quite reasonable in price. The staff are very friendly and it's an inviting, classic atmosphere. Disappointing. For a spot that only offers burgers, they were nothing to write home about. They had 2 things going for them: they’re not preformed patties and they use fresh pickle and onion. And that’s it. The burgers had zero seasoning. They offer no other options other than cheese. They only offer ketchup, spicy ketchup, and mustard. The buns aren’t even grilled, so my double burger just crumbled when I got to the end. No fries or any other sides. And that’s just the food. Cash only, counter seating only. The atmosphere is boring and for a place that has been open for over 100 years, very little history or decor to highlight it. Maybe it’s meant to preserve how it’s always been (except for those awesome drop ceiling fluorescent tube lights) which I can appreciate, but to a first time visitor to CDA, that just doesn’t hold weight for me. Can't say enough good things about this place! From the get-go the staff was very welcoming, attentive, and friendly. Our order was taken immediately upon entering and was ready soon after. I ordered a cheeseburger with pickles and onions and my husband had a hamburger with pickles and onions. There must be something special about the meat for their patties because they were juicy, tender, and overall INCREDIBLE. Afterward, we shared a slice of DELICIOUS chocolate pie. The cost of eating here is incredibly low compared to most eateries nowadays. Our total was just over $10 for the two burgers and pie. Also, they only accept cash but have an ATM in the back if needed. We've walked by this place countless times and I'm glad we finally got to try it. We can't wait to go back! Iconic burger one must try. Very meaty, combined with acidity of the onions/pickles gives a savory flavor only few can replicate. Cash only at the time of arrival, enjoyed thoroughly.

Quite simply one of the best burgers I've ever had. The key word is simply. In fact, I'm not quite sure how they do it. If you like burgers and you're in Coeur d'Alene please please try this place. It is a piece of burger history. Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
They are not fancy, but darned if they aren’t delicious. You will not find a fresher burger anywhere. The time it takes your burger to travel from the griddle to your plate is measured not in minutes, but in SECONDS. There are no fancy toppings, brioche buns, even french fries, but if you are looking for the best classic American cheeseburger this might be it. It has the friendly feel of a local small town diner. Anyway, our family loves it. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Double Cheeseburger with Onion and Pickle
So I'm from CDA and so is my husband. My father in law swears this is the best cheese burger he has ever had. It's been over 10 years since I've had a hudsons burger and it does not disappoint!!! We love the fact that it's first come first serve. You eat, pay and go! The cheese burgers are made to order right in front of you. Usually comes with onion, and pickles but we like our burgers plain. The sauces are worth trying specifically the spicy and hot mmmm. The strawberry rhubarb pie is from a company in Spokane definitely worth trying. They are. Cash only so keep that in mind when trying to this spot! Worth it!!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Great food surrounded by great locals. Burgers, ham sandwiches, and pie served at a wrap around bar style counter top. Order your meal one burger at a time and be prepared to slide one chair to the left or right to accommodate groups of burgers and fanatics as they come and go. You can order takeout but it’s not the same. The wait for seats at the counter is worth it. Cash only with ATM on site. Not only very unique by still doing just an old-fashioned cheeseburger but doing it the right way. Slice and pickles correctly. Slicing onions correctly into a very delicious burger. Not only was it fantastic and just right for the price but that pie I tell you what I would go again just for the pie friendly people. Small quaint place reminds you of the old times and kind of a hidden gym for us younger folks Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–10 Recommended dishes Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
I moved away from CdA in mid-80s and live overseas now. Nevertheless, it's a must that I have a Huddie burger whenever I make an occasional visit to my hometown. Never a disappointment. Hudson's traditional no-frills hamburgers always satisfy my appetite. For generations, this small place has been big in reputation and a delight for taste. So, I'll always make a stop at Hudson's Hamburgers whenever I'm in town.
