Such a great cafe! The food is large portions, but also tasty. The coffee was lacking but it’s comparable to what most cafes like this have. I loved the sourdough bread and potatoes. The only thing I regret is not getting the Carmel pecan roll. It looked amazing passing by heading to other tables. The place is so eclectic and a fun atmosphere. The place is packed on the weekends, but worth the wait. The prices are reasonable. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
When you walk in you will see a lot of pictures, art, knick knacks which gives this diner a great ambiance and a lot to look at. The food all came out delicious. No parking lot so you will need to find street parking and walk to restaurant. Kid friendly.

I really enjoyed my breakfast date with my husband at Hot Plate in south Minneapolis. The restaurant is eclectic, trendy, and comfy, besides offering yummy food and good coffee. My husband and I shared a large, warmed, caramel pecan roll with a dollop of butter on top; it was delicious! In the past, I have enjoyed Hot Plate’s eggs Benedict, however, today I tried their “Grand Marais” Scramble: scrambled eggs with cream cheese and smoked lake trout and asparagus, country potatoes, and toast on the side. I definitely want to return! ❤️
