Great place to grab some food and relax. Very nice atmosphere and the food is delicious. The wings were okay, but the southwest egg rolls were incredible!! The margarita flight was a heck of a thing too, you have to try that. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Margarita Flight
Hops and Hounds is a pet friendly bar and grill. Don't mistake this bar and grill to have your average bar food! The food here was actually really good. We tried a few of their appetizers along with some of their burgers, and both were delicious. I definitely recommend the loaded tots with a sunny side up egg Atmosphere is great to be that pet friendly neighborhood spot! Huge outdoor area and some inside seating as well. Outdoors, you have multiple play areas for the pets. Plenty of picnic tables set out for guests, a sky terrace over looking the outdoor areas, and a stage set up for entertainment!(live bands, guest speaker, etc) overall a great place for you and or your pets to come hangout for the evening. This was our third visit to Hops & Hounds, and it's as fun as ever for our hound. It's located on Jones-Maltsburger north of McAlister Park and next door to a barbecue place. The main thing the patrons have in common is that we love our dogs, and on a Saturday night, it was tricky to find a parking place. Additionally, a no-kill animal shelter was available with a number of pups for adoption. There are two sections reserved for customers to bring their small and large hounds to play and recreate on exercise platforms. Also, there is a good view of a golf driving range nearby. In the outdoor dining area, there are plenty of picnic tables, and dogs are welcome, too. It's easy to secure a leash to the table if needed. Those green plastic bags one sees in parks are available if your companion needs it, but in our three visits, I've never noticed a need. And they can be used for dogs, too! The menu is plentiful and not un- usually expensive. But nothing is ordinary, and the burgers can compete with any well-known burger restaurant in town. Chicken wings, including boneless, are served with tater tots to order. There are filling special salads as well. Hops & Hounds is known for the hops, but soft drinks with free refills are available as well. I've included a pic of the menu. Of course, we always eat outdoors with our hairy beast, but indoor dining is also available. BTW, all, and I mean "all," of the restaurant staff were kind and helpful. Also, as we were leaving, a gentleman with a 12-string guitar was playing and quite good. Even, if you don't bring a puppy, you probably will enjoy the atmosphere. Stopped by for a relaxing, outdoor lunch on a Saturday. It was early, so it wasn't too crowded. There were plenty of open tables in on the covered patio as well as the shaded tables. As far as the dogs, there's separate areas for small and large dogs. There were a few misbehaved dogs, but most were well-behaved. There was live music that switched from singing with a guitar to a DJ later on int the afternoon. It's walk-up service where you order all your drinks and food at the bar, then they bring it out to you. There were a lot of food options from nachos, burgers, wings, salads, etc... For the drinks, had a nice selection from beer, cocktails, seasonal drinks, etc... Of course, they even have a pet friendly menu from unseasoned meats to whipped cream. Ordered the nachos, big dog burger, shrimp salad, dog whipped cream, and a few cocktails. Drinks came out within 5 minutes and all the food within 10 minutes. Wasn't expecting much from the food, but it was surprisingly good. Cocktails were good with a nice balance of alcohol with sweetness, so tried a few different ones. Areas were very clean and everyone did a good job of cleaning up after their pets. There were plenty of pet bags and water igloos throughout the outside area. Inside the dog play areas, there's chairs and table for owners to sit in the shade with their dogs. For safety reasons, food is not allowed in the play areas, but you an bring your drinks. Overall, nice place to have some food and drinks outside. Although though it's pet friendly, there were a lot of people who came just to enjoy the atmosphere. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
It is a local place where doggy parents and doggies can have a nice time. Humans can enjoy some food and drinks, then head over to the dog area to let your paw friends enjoy playing around with others. There is an area for small and big dogs. All though some human parents of small dogs take them over to the big dog area, and that is where the problem begins, with the growling and tense situations, small ones mess with big ones and visa versa. It's all fun and games until the big ones decide they won't have it and jump on the small ones. Any who! I went once and probably won't return... Bathrooms are stinky, and floors could use some cleaning. Awesome place to grab a bite and let the puppers play. The full bar is really nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was awesome and very flavorful. The play area was very clean and had plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20
I ❤️ this place! I think this is an excellent place for dogs to have fun and for owners to relax. The only problem I see here is that it's kind of a small. There was a point where it was too crowded. they should enlarge the big dog's patio. Price per person $10–20 Atmosphere: 5
Might get crazy with lots of people and dogs. We went on a Saturday afternoon, so fun! The place is incredibly dog friendly. Ordered shrimp, loaded tots, don't recommend the wings- fries are fire! Parking was plenty, there are 2 enclosed dog areas. Pretty good place; Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Tots
Obviously, this restaurant is geared toward people who want to bring their dog, so we were more than happy to oblige. The patio is huge and is thoughtfully equipped with water misting fans, although shade is a bit hard to find. They have three dog parks on-site, but food is not allowed in any of them. As you would expect, the attitude towards dogs is very relaxed and you would see them both on and off-leash, but every dog we met was extremely friendly and nice and even our skittish little guy was perfectly comfortable. The restaurant itself is counter service. We ordered the Browned Brussels Sprouts. A caveat, we hate brussels sprouts and would normally avoid them, but had some at another restaurant that were slathered in a delicious sauce and we loved them. These were similarly drenched in sauce, although savory versus the other restaurant's sweet, so we wanted to give them a chance. They were not as good as the other restaurant, but they were better than we expected. The sriracha aioli was particularly good. The Loaded Fries were also good and came topped with a fried egg, which I don't remember seeing elsewhere. The Fajita Nachos were particularly interesting, since the dish consists of literally 12 tortilla chips, each individually topped with all the fixings. You can choose beef, chicken, or both. We got both but, contrary to our expectation, both preferred the chicken. This was because the beef wasn’t strong enough to overpower the taste of the beans. They also have "meals" for dogs, which was just a side of the same beef and chicken that was on the nachos, but in a pretty good-sized portion for a dog. Overall, the food was fine. It was not good enough to come here for that alone, but it was also far from bad and the whole dog atmosphere is one of a kind, so would definitely be worth the trip if that’s what you’re looking for. I don’t know why anyone would come here without a dog. It’s the equivalent of a food truck parked next to a dog park. P.S. - I didn't realize until we were on our way home, but we ordered (and paid for) an order of Mac and Cheese that we never got. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20

If you like dogs, this is the spot. Bring your dog. Make new dog friends. Make friends with other dog parents. There is even a section on the menu for your dog. The mostly outdoor seating allows you to enjoy nice days but there is indoor seating as well in case it gets chilly or rainy. The bartender is attentive and skilled (even though they have a relatively limited drink menu). The food is definitely an opportunity for improvement. The taste was "ok" but nothing really stood out. The burgers were obviously frozen at one point. As was the chicken. The queso was thin and almost watery. The fries were tasty. We had a special request for the server and while it was not something they have on the menu, she went out of her way to make it happen. Adding freshly made burgers and other items would really make this one of the best places in town. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
