Authentic Japanese food, very good quality and competent service. We had a party of six and we all ordered different dishes.... everyone was very happy with everything we ordered. Recommend calling for reservations in order to ensure they have room. Thought the prices were fair for the level of quality. Excellent food! They prefer reservations on the weekend so keep that in mind because it can get a bit hard to get a spot even at the bar during weekends. The food is great and the sushi is the best in town. Sometimes the wait time for to-go’s is a lot but they take call ahead ordering so I’d say try and utilize that! All the servers are great, Shirley and Thinh are awesome. Overall a very lovely place for a date night or even a family/friend gathering. This was our second visit to Hiko-a-mon with a large party for a birthday dinner. Both times, our group has used the large floor level table. First visit, food was ok and service was pretty poor. The big issue was our group had ordered a lot of sushi and food, and they waited for it all to be finished before serving it. Typically a good thing to do, but it cause some of the food to be dry and/or just not as good. Second visit however was stellar. Service was great and all the food was fresh and delicious. Across the table we had several appetizers, couple dozen sushi rolls, and several hibachi meals. Every one of them was presented beautifully and perfectly cooked (for the hibachi). All the sushi was amazing... most likely some of the best in the city. Based on the second visit I'd have no issue recommending this for any small or large gathering. They didn't disappoint. We enjoyed our dinner here. Sushi was fresh and flavorful. We were with a group, so we were seated at the private table. It was super neat…no shoes allowed. All in all, it was a very good meal with great service. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Recommended dishes Fire Scallop

My wife wanted to get sushi for dinner with some friends to celebrate her birthday. I saw this restaurant had a traditional Japanese sunken table and to my knowledge, it's the only place in town that offers such an experience. Thinking this would be a unique experience, I called the restaurant weeks in advance and the hostess who answered the phone told me the table was available and that they would be excited to help host my wife's birthday dinner. I got off the phone having made a reservation for 8 people at 8pm in the sunken table room, leaving my name and phone number as usual. Fast forward to the evening of the dinner, and when my wife and I checked in (with a birthday cake, candle, etc.), the hostess proceeded to tell me that they had given the sunken table to a larger group of people who requested it AFTER us, and that the hostess who took my reservation had allegedly not written down my phone number, which prevented the restaurant from calling me to ask whether I would concede the sunken table for another one. When I asked the hostess how they could possibly think it was okay to simply bump someone from a specific reservation for the table they know is their main attraction and for a patron's birthday without so much as a phone call, the hostess had no explanation. All she said was that there was "nothing they could do." I then asked to speak with the manager and the hostess told me she was "too busy" serving tables to speak but would come by our table (a regular one) to apologize later. The manager did not apologize. In fact, no one from the restaurant aside from the poor hostess who really did not bear the blame for this fiasco, bothered to come to our table at all, let alone apologize. This is beyond unprofessional. Taking and holding reservations is the most basic function of a restaurant. The fact that this place not only revoked my reservation for my wife's birthday dinner but did so without even attempting to contact me is beyond the pale. For the manager to then not even bother to say that she was sorry is even more unbelievable. Beyond this, the food at this restaurant is okay at best. My strong recommendation is that you go someplace else - somewhere where your reservation actually means something. Food was very good and so was the service. I ordered the Oshinko which was great. Their tuna Tataki was very good as well. Had their Kentucky and their fire scallop with jalapenos (as recommended by the server) and they were both good. Didn't like the crab that much but it was still pretty good.
After being seated, no one greeted us or brought waters for 10 minutes. Multiple servers walked past our table without acknowledging. We left and went to Oishii Sushi on Taylorsville Road. Highly recommend Oishii!! 🍱 🤩 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4
Sushi is excellent and service was great. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the sushi chefs sometimes don't follow the recipe listed on the menu. Typically this wouldn't bother me, as I generally feel like the chef knows best, but I'm not eating tuna right now so I choose my rolls carefully to avoid it. Kind of a bummer when the roll ends up with tuna anyway 🙄. But really, the flavor and quality is top notch.

This was our 2nd time dining At Hiko-A-mon, and both times were fantastic. There are really unique dishes like red snapper carpaccio, and the “routine” dishes like tempura and maki were really well executed. The space is really cozy and inviting without feeling crowded. Service is professional, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. On top of everything the prices are reasonable for the quality of food—an excellent value! Dined there several times, fresh sushi ,good service, no complaints. Tonight (10/01) we waited 65 minutes for an order of sashimi and an order of nigiri. The rainbow roll came to the rable in less than 10 minutes along with the edamame. Soft drinks not refilled. Customers came in long after we did , got their dinners , paid and left. Only excuse we heard “ sashimi” takes longer than sushi. No apologies. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30
