Honestly, the first thing we do when looking for new restaurants is review the google online reviews. We looked at the reviews and they were mostly good with a few random one star reviews. Normally, we might look for another place but not so this time because of the owner responses to the poor reviews. We appreciated how thoroughly the owner dissected erroneous claims about his business and his blunt approach. Based on this, we knew we had to try it! The food was amazing! We had the fish and chips and the mixed shrimp platter. The fish was breaded to perfection, flakey, and fresh. The shrimp was perfectly cooked as well. The Brussels sprouts were season welled with a delightful amount of kick that was not overbearing. The coleslaw was fresh and light. Anna, our server, was extremely attentive and made the experience even better. Overall, High Waters has great food, great atmosphere, great service and did we mention there is a television in the men’s room? If you’re in Surf City, check this place out.
Place is very inviting. The staff was very friendly. We had a little hiccup with one of our drinks sitting on the bar for a few minutes... but it was still good! We ordered the crab Nachos for appetizer. Very good. Their Bloody Mary is an appetizer in itself!! I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy with their ranch chips... man that was on point! My wife ordered the Salmon with scallops and shrimp with potatoes. Very pleasing to the palate!! The sauce and Potatoes knocked it out of the park!! Afterward I ordered a bit of their homemade ice cream.. strawberry and chocolate. Oh my goodness... while it wasn't what I was expecting I have to say it was very tasty!! Almost like a frozen mousse. Very nice place to get a snack and drink!! We will be back. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50

We hadn't been in a while and decided to try it this week. Our menus had dried food on all of them and needed to be cleaned. The waitress carried them back to the hostess and brought clean ones. My drink order was incorrect. The burgers used to be hand-pattied, but this time they looked and tasted like they were pre-made and frozen. My entree came out in a small salad bowl, but was overpriced for the amount of food. The seafood entree was not handbreaded and appeared to be oven-baked frozen fish. It appears that corners have been cut on food quality, but the prices didn't match the food quality. Please don't tell me that I needed to speak to the manager. After reading other reviews, our experience is similar to other recent reviews about the food quality. We used to enjoy coming here for dinner, but not the last few times. Food: 1 Service: 3
Five stars because of our server Dave! Dave made the dinner for our group of 7. Food was good for an island diner. I had the burger which was done as requested. My wife had the Po Boy which she said was good but the hoagie was a little tough. Pretty good drink list with a nice tap list. All mixed drinks were very good. The oysters are CRAZY expensive here, $36 for a dozen. Most other restaurants in the area charge about half that. The High Seas Linguine was fantastic. I really wish I hadn't ordered the oysters, feeling like I got scammed. Price per person $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
Staff is very nice, apps and sides are amazing! Wife's burger is really good but my steak tastes like a dirty grill, not quite inedible but definitely not the greatest. Definitely willing to give it another shot though!! Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Great menu. Food is good, with more than enough for one person on one plate. They're a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Service was good at lunch time. Our party of 6 and one other table was all their customers. Cheese fries, Topsail salad, burgers are what we had. Very properly cooked and tasty.
The Greek salad with salmon is AMAZING. Fantastic blue cheese too. Hard to find something that great. Thank you to Amanda, Paul, and David (I hope I got all the names right!) you all were so lovely with our groups this week!

We had a great experience here because of the service. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. They make great bloody Mary’s and the food was good. I’d say your typical bar food nothing amazing but decent. If we travel back through we’d come back.

This was our first time here. The food was great, but the service wasn't as good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was not personable at all and while she tried, theee definitely should've been a 2nd person helping. We had to grab our own silverware and had to wait to get her attention for side plates for our wings. The establishment had a cool atmosphere, but probably won't be back.
