It’s not a fancy place for a date. Harold’s is famous for his New York style deli sandwiches. There’re four of us. We had three cups of cold borscht soup, one junior brisket sandwich, a large two meat combination, and a side mashed potato. All were delicious with huge portions. There’re so much leftovers; we each got another one or two meals out of it. The pickle bar was great, with plenty of selections. I enjoyed the hot peppers and the healthy salad. We shared an order of cheesecake which was enough for four to share. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Pickle Bar

My first time there, the food was amazing and everything is oversized 😋 the pastrami was so fresh and tasty. I had 3 helpings... dessert napoleon was so soft and creamy I just indulge. Approaching the deli you see a shut down hotel in disrepair and first impression was oh no what have we picked. I'm happy to report that this was a very memorable dining experience that I will remember fondly for years to come. Having never been to a NY style deli I thought I got the catering menu when I saw a pastrami and corned beef sandwich was $54... It wasn't. I was assured that the sandwich I ordered would feed 6-8 people. I ordered it. Was directed to the pickle bar, omg I'm in heaven and I had to check my pulse to be sure. The first thing to come out was a plate of the best damn smelling and tasting Rye bread and again I was puzzled why half a loaf of bread for my sandwich, but then came my sandwich, 1 half was bigger than my face. The cacophony of flavor that came from this absolute dream of a sandwich elevated my awareness to a whole new plane of existence. And that was amazing (left over made 11 more good sized sandwiches for my crew back at the hotel. And just when I thought we were done and on to dessert. The ECLAIR was bigger than my forearm!!! The cream was likely the best cream filling I've ever had, the outside dough was ok, chocolate was good. And then the cheesecake. Fun fact I don't like cheesecake, well I didn't and then I had theirs... I felt as if taste buds had been awakened that was dormant for so long and now that cheesecake is in my top 5 favorite cakes, maybe 3rd? Every server and cashier was the nicest people ever. Needless to say it is a destination stop for us now. We also will be bringing coolers next time to bring food back. Simply amazing. So much food. Every plate can easily feed 2-3 persons. I’ve never had the chance to try the cakes, but they look delicious. My favorite sandwich is the hot pastrami, very delicious. Don’t forget to also try the pickles buffet, with many options. This place is worth a visit for anyone traveling around Edison/NJ. Harold's New York Deli is a must-have experience. The large Pastrami sandwich serves four hungry adults. The pickle bar is full of very tasty pickled cucumbers, peppers, saurcraut, and health salads. Save some room for the incredibly large dessert cakes. The pastrami was very good. I would like to see a variety of deli mustard, but that did not take a way from the experience at all. There was a 15 minute wait at the door on Sunday evening The experience was worth the wait. I will definitely return for another round of pastrami and rye.
