We booked in advance for a birthday! & I have to say— It did not disappoint. We loved the food, the seating area was cozy, the wine was really good— However, we realized no music? Maybe my only suggestion is to have a bit of background music. Otherwise, it was absolutely perfect! I’ve never personally liked apple desserts but they made one for us & it was divine! As a party of five everyone agreed the only description is superb, the one and only word to describe Hallingstuene. The food is excellent, seriously this has to be one of the absolute best restaurant meals I have had in years. Every meat dish was excellent, the fish dish was sublime and dessert was to die for. Absolutely recommended if you are in Gelio at anytime of the year. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
This restaurant is about the experience, atmosphere, and certainly, about delicious cuisine. You’ve got to try the reindeer steak and the minke whale appetizer. We stopped here in passing through town, but loved it so much that we will be coming back here to ski (and eat every night).
We've been here a couple of times over the last year, and it doesn't disappoint! The food is amazing, and the ambience is great. Even our kids, who are very picky eaters at home, love the food. Yes, it's slightly on the expensive side, but then again so is pretty much every restaurant in Norway.
Excellent restaurant from A to Z. Great food, very nice staff and cosy nordic ambience. Starters, main courses and desserts were equally excellent. Probably one of the most elaborate wine lists I have ever seen. There is also a nice variety of above-average wines served by the glass. In my view, the restaurant solidly compares to a Michelin one star, so relatively speaking the not so small price tag is average and certainly justified!
Some of the best trout ever (end we tried in many places). Starters are outstanding also, and the wine selection blows your head off. And it's not expensive, compared to local pricing and this quality. Great service too. Just a suggestion: please take off whale and shark from the menu. Update: we tried the lamb and the reindeer at the second evening, it was also amazing. Keep up the great work and good luck :)

Really nice place, had whale and mountain dish as starters, they were both delicious I took lamb as medium, it was really well made onenof the best ones. Sauce on it was peppery and salted nicely. I would recomend this. My wife had tenderloin with pepper sauce, medium rare steak, it was also made really well, melted in your mouth. Cool old place, they have alot of wines, we drank beer. I loved the place. Nice people working there Service Dine in Meal type Dinner
Professional and friendly staff. Food to die for, beautifully presented and full of wonderful flavours. Highly recommended, a truly once-in-a-lifetime culinary experience in the mountains.
YES. It was 2018 when we were there last time, then as of now, they haven't disappointed not even a bit. No words to describe the spectacular experience they create in there. I'll let the photos to speak for themselves.
