The food is nice, it’s authentic, but the fish I got was not fresh and not so clean. However the atmosphere of this place is nice, you really feel like you’re in Hong Kong again. Price range very reasonable RM20-80.

My friends and I had really good Peranakan food in Malacca and thought it was hard to top that, but Hakka Zhan exceeded our expectation and left an impression on our last day in Malacca.
The dishes were flavourful and carefully cook, our favourite being the Claypot Mutton Soup and Vinegar Pork Trotter. The flavours were deep and well balanced at the same time. The classic Abacus was done very well too.
We had arrive at 12nn on a Tuesday and were the first customers. By the time we were done eating, the restaurant was almost full. Come early!

Vinegar Pork Trotter Stew
Ordered pig maw soup, vinegar trotter, sweet potato leaves , abacus, salted egg sotong, YongTauFu . May not be perfect for all but appreciate the healthy balance and clearly home style cooking . YongTauFu can be more flavourful. Soup and pig trotter vinegar were top faves! Abacus was yummy too!

Our favorite place for some authentic Hakka food especially the mutton soup. Abacus and Yong Tau Foo are nice… other dishes are pretty average although acceptable. Ambience is great but can be quite loud when it’s full house. 🫶🏻

This place has impressive and authentic Hakka food. I am a picky eater and I am also a cook. The Yong tau foo were fresh and delicious. Pork trotters vinegar is our favourite. The 奶油虾 is also good. The 猪肚汤 has subtle 清香 chicken broth which I really appreciate. 客家盐鸡 is really good!! And lastly, the 黄酒蛋 is also good. The wine taste is strong tho, not so suitable for kids I assume.
Overall, this is a nice place to eat. We love it. Will definitely be back for more!
The restaurant did not change at all as per my visit 4 yrs ago. The food standard is still the same. I love the taste and the fragrance of the dishes. Everything is authentic or close to authentic taste. U will see many old customers at the restaurant.. as in literally old.. so that speaks for itself.

Hakka Yam Abacus Seeds
We came here for the kuchabe 古早味 taste, made a reservation via WhatsApp so that don't need wait for seating.
We had 4 patrons and ordered 6 dishes, portion was just nice, in the end, left a few strands of potato leaves and managed to finish all the food.
Yam abacus and Yong tofu was above average, black fungi pork is okay, the rest worked as backup filler dishes.
Price is reasonable RM 102 for 4 pax at town area.

Good to taste, can't complain!
As it was only two of us, we ordered only 5 dishes and they were all fantastic. Recommend coming early as it will get crowded. Suggested for 2 are: meatballs, Yong tau foo, Yam abacus and Wine chicken.

Quiet place. Cosy with lots of (old) decorations.
The Yong Taufu, braised meat in fermented tofu, and mei-chai-khou-rou are a must in Hakka meals. However the food was too salty for me.
Sadly, owner/host/waiter/waitress were all so sour in the face. Must have been a long tiring day for them... 😓
