Friendly, helpful staff, food was disappointing. We have the Coco french fries, or some name like that, and also their version of nachos with chicken. The french fries were OK, but obviously frozen and with some type of crunchy coating. The chicken gravy on the side with the bacon crunch, topped french fries was unique. The nachos had melted cheese product , and a little bit of chicken across the top; but not very good. The restaurant is difficult to find it shows up on a map, but the doorway was dark and almost felt like we were entering a speakeasy. First time ever in this town, and saw this place when looking for a spot for dinner. It's located on an adorable street. The employees were very nice, the food came quick and was delicious. The perfect mom and pop spot. I'd definitely go back if I wonder back to this town. Oh and to top it off the other customers are so friendly, we chatted with several locals there. We enjoyed a nice lunch here today, the restaurant is located on a quaint street just a short walk from the waterfront. There was just a short wait to be seated, and our server Cody came to our table quickly after we were seated. She told us the Daily Specials and answered any and all menu questions we had since this was our first visit. She was very polite and helpful, she had several tables in our area and I noticed how she kept a constant check on each and every one. We ordered one of the Daily Specials which was a SoftShell Crab Dinner with 2 sides and we also ordered the Rajun Cajun Pasta. Both meals were served hot and fresh with just a short wait time. The crabs were cooked well, lightly fried and tasted fresh and not overly greasy, the pasta dish was delicious, you have a choice of protein with your pasta (Blackened Fish, Shrimp or Chicken) tossed in a creamy Alfredo like sauce with bacon, mushrooms, peppers and green onion. Both meals were a good portion to be filling without having any leftovers. The restaurant was clean as were the restrooms. We enjoyed our lunch and would stop by again if we're in the area. I was really hoping for a “down home” meal at this restaurant in the quaint downtown of Washington, NC. We were not impressed. The wait time for our food to arrive was well over 30 minutes. You know it’s long when your young children notice and suggest that we go somewhere else. I asked for my salad before my meal was served. When I thought the server may have forgotten, I asked a second time. I was told that it was being prepared. I continued to wait. At one point, I figured that I should just forget about the salad, and I asked the server to cancel the order. The salad finally arrived. It was okay. It was a wedge salad where the romaine had been grilled. Our meals arrived shortly after the salad was delivered. The food was not hot upon arrival. It was cooked, but did not feel hot. My children originally ordered corn nuggets and we were informed that they were not “serve worthy” so we switched to the fried shrimp. The shrimp arrived over cooked and the breaded was dark. Maybe the grease was old? I ordered the Southern Belle. The burger was far from medium well. It was well, well done. The bun was kinda smashed like it was the last one in a bag that had been left in a bread box. The fries were not hot. I did not finish the meal. My husband had the Rajun Cajun pasta. This was the only dish ordered in our party that was tasty. The sauce had a good flavor. We left feeling disappointed, and agreed never to return. Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

Bottom line up front choose Grub Brothers for the best meal value you will find in Original Washington, NC. From the home-made pimento cheese and fresh crackers to the Angus beef burgers to the chicken tenders other restaurants would pass off as as 3 seperate meals, the food was delicious. Here's the bonus...The service was equally as impressive. Never once did I hear a staff member tell a customer, "Let me get your server." The server magically showed up with the requested item very shortly thereafter. Seamless. Timely. We ate until full and still took home enough for lunch tomorrow. Food was good overall, but parts were just ok. For example, my burger was excellent, but the bun was cold and chewy. 30 seconds on the grill and it would have been great. Seems to be a local watering hole. Decor is weak. If I am back in the area I might go back. Fun menu with a lot of different, tasty choices.
