Hearty, Local, Family Restaurant 🐓 The Golden Rooster is a main street kitchen: The service staff move fast, but stop to chat; breakfast comes out hot and tasty, no matter how busy it is; and my coffee cup somehow managed to be always magically filled✨️: Bonus, they have gluten-free toast. 😊 Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The home fries are amazing, have a blend of spices on them that bursts in your mouth. Their sourdough toast also has a savory heady flavor that lasts far longer than when you are eating them from. Overall a very enjoyable experience, I would suggest going again, next time the omelet looked tasty so that is the next try. My family and I ate at The Golden Rooster three mornings ago after staying in Old Orchard Beach. The food was GREAT! I had my first omelette here and it was off the chain. Great portion size and very flavorful. The best crispy fresh Pepsi to go with it too. I definitely recommend eating here and want to come back in the future. Okay, well I was really looking forward to the Meatloaf dinner and sadly it was mediocre. The green bean’s, really seemed like they were just straight out of the can no love added to them. The meatloaf consistency was really great just needed a bit more love “flavor or seasoning”. The mashed potatoes and gravy were the best part which helped the meatloaf. We also had the Sweet Potato fry’s, a sauce would be a great addition to those; try a spicy aïoli sauce. Fried shrimp basket for $21 was underwhelming and the fries were dirty looking, maybe change the grease. The drinks were awesome. The band that was present was cool atmosphere better, drinks are great. Yep, I’ll come again for the drinks.
The food was good 7/10, the eggs were a bit salt less. The atmosphere was great and welcoming. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $10–20 Recommended dishes Blueberry

This is my first time eating at this quaint little restaurant right off of Main Street in Saco, ME. You cannot miss it because there is a giant rooster right outside.🐔 There is a bar with seating to the right and a good amount of tables / booths. Waitress was quick to greet me and take my order, as well as drink refills. The establishment is clean, staff very friendly. I ordered the steak and cheese over fries. It was delicious! I do not know what type of steak it was but it was thin, tender and very well seasoned and the cheese was very creamy. Fries are thicker than most places and I loved it! I will definitely be back to try the breakfast because someone near me was eating the eggs Benedict and it look very good, as well as the homes fries. Great experience! The food was just "ok". My wife had the lobster Mac and cheese. It tasted like Cracker Barrel Mac and cheese from a box with some lobster on top. My lamb sandwich was a bit on the dry side. My son did enjoy the crab cakes. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch

My wife and I visited the Golden Rooster for the 1st time today. Friendly staff, nice seating area with a small bar in front. Both of our meals were very good. I had the Country Chicken with mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy. Very reasonably priced. We will be back to try breakfast. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20

Disgusting. Cramped. Dilapidated. Uninspired. The bathrooms were in the dining room, people were lined up waiting to use them and they stank, horribly, it was vile. Flies buzzed around the tables. The walls were covered in food splatter. The ceiling was stained and falling apart. Our booth had enough room to seat two small children, it was extremely uncomfortable and there was no foot room. The menu and food were basic. Nothing wrong with the food but nothing exciting either. If you have the option to get take out here, do that. The eating in experience is not good. Attaching pictures of dirty walls, bathrooms, ceilings, and food. Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1
Ok, I may be biased as I'd consider the Rooster my local, but there's a good reason I'm drawn to it. The food is consistently fresh and always tasty. Everything is made from scratch and tastes like home. Staff are all super friendly, and there's always good company to be found at the bar. Above all, it's a proud locally owned business and has worked hard to deserve the support it gets from the community. Undeniably the best place in Saco for breakfast, and they serve lunch and dinner too. Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20
