The restaurant’s name not Gion, it’s Wasabi (I think) located at Timor Plaza near Meimart. Best japanese food in town.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in dili. They have daily Bento boxes for lunch which are about 10 bucks. They have a very large menu with all types of things from Sushi, tempura, curry and much much more. The place is romantic enough for a date. It has a little cherry blossom tree and a lot of other Japanese decorations. I really like the salmon and tuna sushi rolls. They have good miso soup as well. To get a fifth star they should do three things, 1 never ever run out of green tea - this is a Japanese restaurants after all, 2 make bigger portion sizes for the edamame beans, and 3 get the mosquitoes under control. This place does not accept a credit card.
I love Japanese food. Not brave enough to try sushi here yet though. I ordered the cold ramen. You know that cucumber dish often served in Thai restaurants (in the States), the cucumber in the dish tastes just like that (minus the chilis). If you don't like vinegar this dish isn't for you.
I also love iced tea which I've found hard to get in Timor. Until now. The cold jasmine tea without sugar is great.
