I had the pleasure of eating at this amazing restaurant a week or do ago. The food was exceptional and the service was unbelievable! Our waiter took care of every need on time in a courteous and friendly manner. Being from the culinary industry, I was most impressed by the open fire assado grill and the atmosphere it created. Definitely worth a visit. Next time I'm in South Africa, I will definitely eat there again. Waited for a very long time to try out this hidden gem in Linden. We spontaneously showed up for a lunch during the weekday and were accommodated. I advise on reservations for weekends, suppers and large groups as tables are limited. Limited parking spaces. Excellent service and delicious food on the pricey side. I want to visit again purely for the side of Mac “n” Cheese. Sadly, the Cubanos were not on the menu when we visited. Will be returning to try out other items on the menu. The best food I've had in Johannesburg, it's really as simple as that. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the ambience perfectly complimented the South American food they serve. The service was impeccable, it could not have been faulted. Absolutely everything we ordered was delicious and left us speechless. For starters we had the corn and cheese empanadas served with chimichurri verde. There are a few other empanada varieties available, and I'll definitely be back to try them. The beef short rib and grilled Chilean sea bass is what we ordered for mains. The beef short rib is honestly the most delicious piece of meat I've tasted in my life, the charred taste that comes through was incredible. For sides we ordered the skinny fries and smashed baby potatoes. You have to get the churros for dessert! They were mind blowing. Served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Absolute heaven. Our evening at Gaucho was unforgettable. I'll definitely be back. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person R 450–500 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Fries

What an amazing experience. From the restaurant's aesthetic to the food to the service. Waiting time is a bit long but absolutely worth it. Amazing drinks, I had the mushroom gnocchi and it was absolutely delicious. The loaded fries are to die for. As for their dessert with donuts, what a great way to seal off the beautiful lunch. I can not fully express my appreciation for Argentinean Asada. I love the romance of the food sizzling on the parrilla at your table, a sight to behold. The scintillating smell of that gaucho barbeque of sirloin steak, lamb ribs, verde chimichurri chicken wings, espetada, beef short ribs and chorizo. Accompanied by a choice of two sides. we settled for smashed roasted baby potatoes, Root vegetables with goat cheese, and an extra portion of soffrito (rice), all washed down with a bottle of leuwekuil Shiraaz The wine was a cheaper bottle on the menu but decent enough for the evening, smooth n delicate on the pallette. The baby potatoes were done previously and probably just reheated, edible n served hot. The root vegetables were well balanced with the goats' cheese to cut that sweetness. The soffrito rice was the star of the accompaniments.. not just because of my love for rice... the flavours were delicate and lingered long after you swallowed the rice. The chicken wings were moreish n delicately spiced with chimichurri... not drowning. The chorizo was a blend of beef and pork meat, good strong flavour but could easily be mistaken for wors. The meats were cooked to perfection as one would expect, with the right cook to continue basking on the hot coals bathed in beautiful unadulterated flecks of salt n hint of cracked black pepper, sans any basting. My greatest disappointment was the lack of any offal (intestines), the backbone of any great asada parilla... which would have made this dining experience a 10/10. The waitrons were absolutely amazing as one would expect from this establishment. Polite, attentive, unobtrusive.. ever willing to fulfill your wishes to make your dining experience an event and one to remember. Our waitress overheard our conversation and realised it was my partners birthday.. the coffee I ordered took surprisingly long to be served... and what a surprise it was when it finally did arrive. we were presented with a dessert of sopaipilla dulce de leche ... Argentinean donuts with glace icing and caramel sauce served with vanilla ice cream, courtesy of the restaurant. This was certainly a great dining experience with a bold ambiance. A restaurant that certainly prides itself in archetypical Argentinean cuisine only second to the food I ate in Argentina. Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed.
