The pork in this place is out of this world. The hawg wings were so good we ordered them 3x in one meal then came back the next day for more. The ribs were out of control. I will be thinking about that jerk sauce for years to come. Definitely the best place to eat in the Village. The lava cake was a favorite too, as was the Mac and cheese. I should also mention that the service was amazing both visits. We have teenagers who were famished and thirsty - I bet the boys each had 8 glasses of water and they never had to ask for more. After a busy day on the mountain this place was absolutely what my family needed to finish off some fantastic days. We heard great things about the food and were excited to try this place. Unfortunately, the service at the hostess stand was horrible. We were told it would be about 30-45 min. We had checked in around 30 min as they told us to and again every fifteen minutes or so after. They were telling multiple people waiting that they were "second in line." At 45-50 min, we were third in line. After waiting an hour and 15 min, we were still third in line. On top of all that, they had an attitude when we would check back. We understand it can get busy and would have been fine if they were more honest about the time, friendly, and paying attention to the list but seems like they were just seating who they wanted. We watched many other parties grow frustrated and go somewhere else.
wait times are atrocious. Common to wait 1.5-2 hours if you go after about 330. (This is a holiday week though) the Mac and cheese half portion is easily enough for a meal for one, and it's amazing. Husband got chicken fried steak and enjoyed it as well. Entrees aren't served until after 4 pm though. It was incredibly busy the week after Christmas and the time we chose to go eat was our fault…but the service was phenomenal. The woman (sorry i didn’t get her name) who was hostess at the time had so many people barking at her for tables and she was so kind and friendly through it all. We were finally seated and Jason was our server and he was excellent! My husband commented that it may have been the best server he has ever had. Food was great and timely and I thought prices were good for somewhere right in the village of Snowshoe. It was worth it for us. The wait at other places in the village were longer than Foxfire and one place even told us they are no longer taking orders because they were too busy. We will go back next time we are on the mountain and I hope Jason is there. I would wait longer to be in his section. And the hostess deserves a raise! Fun place to try out, but not somewhere that I will recurrently going to. Unless you were ordering a sandwich or wings, most of the food was $20 to $40. This might be okay for some people, but it was simply out of my price range for what I wanted to eat. My $22 mac n cheese was good, but not worth that price. Although the food was not my favorite, the service was excellent! When asked if they had chocolate milk, the waiter’s responded with, “No but we can make some for you”. Our waiter was very kind even with our alterations to the meals.
