Food was made fresh. Chicken wings are good, and I would like more sauce on them. Wonton in chili oil was a little too salty for us. Egg rolls are made in-house and a little different, but we liked them. Shaken beef was tender but lacked flavor. Fried rice was ok. The pulled chicken breast had some pieces that were a little dry and, for me, a little too salty. Excellent service and food - the flavors went together so well. Such a genuine hard-working owner and delicious meal to get close to our home. Thanks for the delicious dinner!
I was skeptical of this type of food….and when the food take out, it was very “pretty”….i felt like I was on a Food Network episode. But I was still skeptical what the food would taste like. My skepticism was unwarranted, the flavors were amazing. This small restaurant is a legit diamond in the rough. Totally worth checking it out. We plan to be repeat customers for sure. Our family ate there for lunch today and it did not disappoint. We got several different things to try. We started with Moms fried shrimp, the fried wings and the chicken bao sandwich, it was all so delicious. We then had the chicken fried rice, best I have ever had. An order of the tenderloin pho, it was perfect had great flavor. My husband had the shaken tenderloin and with the servers recommendation swapped the steam rice for fried with an egg on top. Everything was so good, from the food, service and all over atmosphere. 10 out of 10 definitely should try this place. We will be back to try out the rest of the menu for sure. It is ok, but don't think you will be able to come in for a quick bite. Took almost 45 minutes for Pho. Went around lunch time and they ran out of wings. They ran out of meatball skewers after I placed my order and ran out of beef Pho after I placed my order. I hope they can turn things around and do better. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
I had high hopes for this restaurant. I really, really, really wanted the experience here to knock it out of the ballpark because it would mean that there would be another Asian restaurant in this area that would please my palate. Now, I'm going to preface this review by explaining that I am an (Asian) American who was brought up eating foods with pungent flavors such as fish sauce, padek, bitter melon, etc, so when I heard this place opened in my neck of the woods, I definitely wanted to come out and try it. As you can tell by the picture, our party of 7 ordered quite a bit of food, ten in total. Out of the ten dishes, I really enjoyed the bao buns, spicy chicken wings, ban cuon, and crab fried rice. I was very sad I was not able to enjoy the pho, as pho is one of my joys. I'm not saying the pho was bad in any way. As a matter of fact, I'm not saying any dish here was bad. It's really based on an individuals' preference. Example: The pho was too sweet for me. I prefer a more simple Northern style flavor. Note: If you like a sweeter pho, this is the place for you. 😉 The bao buns were DELICIOUS! Soft pillowy buns with a slice of beautifully glazed pork belly. This appetizer would have been so well worth it, but it only came with 2 buns for a whopping $11. 😱 Yikes. Note: If you have money burning through your pockets, this may be the appetizer for you. 😅 Next, the fried chicken wings. Omg! When I said these were spicy, they were SPICY! And I was all there for it! 😍 Loved it and will definitely be coming back for these. Note: If you are not a pepper lover, make sure to brush off the Thai chili pieces off the top. Third on my favorites list, ban cuon. I was a little worried before trying this dish. I wasn't sure if it was going to have the taste and texture of a Chinese cheung fun (thicker and denser in texture) or an authentic Vietnamese ban coun (lighter and more airy). I was pleasantly surprised, upon closer examination (by removing the mound of bean spouts), that it resembled the delicately steamed rice noodles used to make ban cuon. And, it was pretty close in taste as what I'm used to. A little lighter in sauce flavor, but still very good. If I lack the energy to make ban cuon at home, I would come back for these. Ban cuon takes time and quick hands. And lastly, the crab fried rice. Although simple and easy, I truly appreciate the real crab that was used to make this dish. With a little bit of chili oil, this dish was very good. Oh, and we can't discount the types of spicy condiments they had to offer to add depth to the dishes. Liked them all. Now, on to the service: I can not give a true sufficient score, as of yet, due to the restaurant just recently opening. I understand that the restaurant is still going through growing pains, and the staff needs to get in their groove so the service star may change in the future. For now, I gave Service a 2 star based on how well our waitress was able to tend to our table. There were minuit things such as, not having plates or utensils (which was partly my fault because we seated ourselves, which I do not believe was the norm and may have thrown off the waitress' vibe), but we waited and asked for plates 4 time before we were brought enough plates for us all. I also did not have a spoon for my pho, which I had to ask for. And, our empty plates were not picked up so we could move the plates that were still full of food close to each other. Minuit things that, I'm sure, will work themselves out once the waitresses/waiters get in the groove of things. It's not a big deal, but still a 2-star. Lastly, the atmosphere. The restaurant is a small, cozy place situated next to a Pizza Hut. The parking can be a struggle, depending on the time of day, but the atmosphere inside was good. The manager? seemed like a nice fellow and tried to do what he could with the influx of customers piling in to try out his new place. If I were to give any advice, I would say to not shy away from those pungent flavors. That's what makes Vietnamese, Hmong, Laos, Thai cuisine.
