Initially we were a little reluctant to try this restaurant as some of the reviews weren't great , however there were some really good reviews as well. So we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt ... and we were pleasantly surprised. The Jalapeno poppers were tasty and freshly made , the fried calamari starter tender and portion decent in size , the creamy fettucceni really delicious and rump steak perfectly done and juicy ( not needing any sauce ). An overall decent tasty filling meal experience at a fair price.

Lovely cosy restaurant, food was superb and our waitress was friendly.
Nice to chat, however the music and tv kept being turned up and we had to request a few times for it to be turned down so we could hear our fellow diners. The roosterkoek is not really roosterkoek but a bun cooked on a grill.

Absolute phenomenal experience at Rusty Oak Bistro today. It was My Mum's 60th Birthday and altogether we were about 30. From preparations over emails and calls from Ashleigh (Manageress) to going through to the venue to set up earlier - Fantastic customer service! There was honestly no fault. The food was divine, music perfect, our waitress Nicole was just perfect! She ran around so much for us making sure every single person was happy with drinks and food. I am coming back to Rusty Oak Bistro for my 30th Birthday in August and I just cannot wait! Thank you so much from myself, My Family and all our Friends! 5/5 Everything!

I have never enjoyed a bowl of chips like these absolutely fabulous and very well made.
I wish I had taken a picture of the chips. But they went down so quickly and deliciously 😋

We went for dinner at this restaurant on a Friday night
The food wasn't great, nor was it terrible. Nothing to write home about. I had the poppers for starters. I've had better. I wanted the calamari but it was out of stock. I also ordered a milkshake. It took them half an hour to make as they were out of syrup and had to go buy some. Some friends around the table also ordered other items and had to change their order due to items being out of stock. The waiting staff are friendly, but it seems as though the restaurant is again...not well stocked. It wasn't particularly busy either, so not sure why.
If you're looking for a place with a nice atmosphere you can go have a couple of beers at, this is the place. You're also allowed to smoke at the outside tables.
If you're looking for a place to go have lunch or dinner, I would pass by, as the menu is limited, for instance, there are only 3 different burgers on the menu.

I visited Fire Craft yesterday (25 Feb) with my boyfriend and his daughter yesterday's hoping to have a nice lunch at a location that was previously known to me as Rusty Oak. Upon arrival we realized that the restaurant was changed to FIRE craft but we decided to stay since we were hungry.
Upon opening the menu we were met with dissatisfaction. The menu barely had anything interesting sounding enough to order, we debated leaving but our schedule was jam packed with errands we still needed to run, so we ordered the vetkoek sliders, fish tacos, steak and the half chicken, all with chips as a side.
The food came and we then realized that we had made a bad decision eating there. The steak was flavourless and tough (the server didn’t ask the preference) the vetkoek sliders were made from vetkoeks that were made days ago and microwaved for us, the pulled pork filling was dry pieces of pork with no sauce. The server had taken our fish taco order incorrectly, it was meant to be the starter tacos with a hard shell but they brought us a fish wrap with a side of chips (R170) when we had ordered the hard shell taco starters (R75), we wasted R95 on a meal that was at best a 2/5. My boyfriend’s chicken was pink at the bone, all pieces- the drumstick, thigh and breast. He showed the server and she didn’t apologise but took it back to the kitchen, brought it out after 5 mins in the mircrowave and when he cut into the breast it was still pink and not edible. The manager is on site, but didn’t make any table rounds to check on our experience because she cared more about her cellphone than her customers.
My vetkoek sliders were odry and had no sauce as per the menu description. They were seeping oil onto the bowl as well. They offered me sauce on the side but by then we had eaten the chips because all the food was so terribly prepared. The blue cheese sauce that cost R20 was watery and very bitter, almost as if it was off. I have had a number of blue cheese sauses in my life and that thing was not one of them. Our final bill amount was R844 after the tip, which the server and restaurant didn’t work for. The raw chicken was R210 the dry sliders and the hard steak around R180.
This place was a total waste of time, money and appetite. The owners should invest in proper chefs who know what a meal should look and taste like and staff with basic training skills. It was completely empty when we walked in at 12:30 and that should have been our first red flag. We observed another table of 2 men returning their dish too so it was not just us with the complaints. After we paid (for nothing) I hung back and complained to the manager, who was on her phone constantly. Her response was not reassuring at all and her apology was lackluster.
The health department should hear about this place, they are serving up nothing but salmonela, excuses and flavourless food. I felt ill the rest of the afternoon.
I have taken images of the bill, food and timed how long it took to get our food, just in case someone from this establishment says that I am making it up.
Save your money, the food you make at home is 10 times better than their whole offering :)

The restaurant inside is beautiful and modern, the outside section is very relaxed and laid back, so depending on what you are looking for you have two date options. Staff were super friendly and the crumbed mushrooms were extremely tasty. The pizza was unfortunately a bit bland and not very tasty which was a pity.
We went there for breakfast exactly a year ago to the day in November and it was awful. We went back this November and the breakfast was fantastic. Was very quiet but it was such a beautiful day and we opted to sit outside. Food was very reasonably priced aswell. We had a breakfast, eggs Benedict, strawberry shake and a latte, portion of chips(huge) tip included it only cost R250. Service was good too.

2nd time coming to Fire Craft and chose to have my birthday here. It was so good again. You will find it hard to get a better steak anywhere else and the creamy pepper or mushroom sauce cannot be beaten. Everyone said it was the best steak they have ever had. The chips are also debatably the best chips you will find. David our water was also on the ball. We never had to look for him as he was constantly checking up on us. Considering we were 11 people the food came pretty quickly at the same time, fresh and hot. You will not be disappointed going to Fire Craft
