“Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep..." Ok, maybe not snow, or sleet, or hail, but definitely rain. Lots of rain. A season's worth of rain. This is what we were dealt with when we adamantly decided to go to Fifi-El Mejor Cuajito and Empanadillias. We were determined as we heard much fanfare about this place. *Note that not many places make this delicacy, cuajito anymore, and we were very excited to see and try theirs. You would be hard pressed to find folks still making cuajito. Some may say it's a dying fare. To be honest, we were not disappointed. Not at the very least. Their cuajito tasted wonderfuly like it used to when I was younger. This is what I would consider comfort food. I can eat a whole pot of this, but I won't. So we sit and enjoy our cuajito and arcapurrias on tables that the folks have provided. These tables have awnings as rain is a regular occurrence. As we are about to finish, we continue to see a steady stream of customers even with the rain falling as hard as it was. Coming to Fifi-El Mejor Cuajito and Empanadillias was a great experience. The food was just right and was even better than I could imagine and have brought me back in time. Hope to see you soon, even through heavy rain. Edit July 2023 but originally posted in July 2019 This is one of those local spots for fast food you want to eat. Their relleno de papa and empanadillas are very good, but the pulpo salad was more enjoyable to me. I just had to come back, and I was not disappointed again. Local home owner that lives right behind this business. Sorry, but the pig ear stew, aka cuajito, is just not for me, but locals seem to like it because they come here for it. You know when you pass by a Spanish business and the Spanish people are eating there, then that food has to be good.
