The bagels were not that flavorful at all. They were also tough and tasted like they may have been a day or two old. It was really hard to get to the cream cheese and salmon as the server put way too much onion and lettuce on this thing. The mood in there was as if we were bothering her to be waited on and it wasn’t busy at the moment. My daughter was told she could only have drip coffee when she wanted a custom drink that the menu said was available. The cashier repeated it over to her “only drip coffee” multiple times in what seemed to shut her up. We heard two delivery drivers be told they didn’t had what the customer had ordered along with walk in customers being told they were out of this and that. Not the experience we had hoped for but we ate and left quickly.

Good bagels, but to be honest the service was bad. Whoever was the cashier was, definitely wasn't in the mood for work today and it seemed like the owner possibly so that threw me off a little bit. Ordered a half dozen bagels and an 8 oz tub of cream cheese that they have for $11.49. But for some reason I was charged a little more. I mentioned it to her and she went back and fixed something. Just not sure why it didn't give the price that is posted on menu to begin with. Not sure what I'm being charged extra for. Nice neighborhood and I know most people probably don't care or wouldn't complain over an extra $1.25 but it's the point. Also I went in there at 8:00 in the morning and they only had about six different kinds of bagels left by then. But the bagels are definitely good, even better if they hadn't already ran out by 8:00 in the morning of both salt bagels and salt sticks. You'd figure if they were that popular, that place would definitely have more than enough at that time in the morning still or just make way more. All right now my Karen rant is over
So, this is a difficult review for me to figure out stars for. Elaine’s has been a mainstay in the area for decades now. I remember Troy Schools getting their bagels for 25 cent Bagel Day back in the 90s and my love of bagels came from here. I am sure so many people love their bagels and other foods too, so I’m glad they are still in business and glad there are options. The quality began to dip pretty badly around 2017 so I had gone over to getting grilled bagels from Tim Horton’s. I came back today for the first time in over a year after several bad experiences with Tim Horton’s. The new layout looks amazing and the service is always amazing- the bagels are not amazing as the others. I don’t know what happened in the making of these in the last 10 years but you have to have teeth of steel to make it through these bagels without hurting your mouth. The bagel shells are hard, dry and impossible to eat while the insides are undercooked to the point where it is mostly just dough and is not cooked. I can actually remember what the bagels tasted like back then and they were made so well, so I don’t know how the quality could have gone down this much - even in a year. I bought a plain bagel and two salt- I barely was able to eat the insides before throwing them all away. Tim Horton’s also doesn’t know how to make bagels but there’s are a little easier on the teeth though their bagels now seem to taste just as bad as here. Einstein’s can’t make good bagels either. It’s just really sad that even though there are many options for bagels in the area, almost none of them are edible.

I was not impressed with this bagel shop. The bagel was really dry and chewy. It was not fresh at all. I ordered it with turkey and cheese; I have no complaints with the turkey and cheese part of the bagel. I was just really bummed out at how dry the bagel was. If it were more fresh, it would have changed the satisfaction in my experience here.
I may give this bagel shop another chance because I have had Elaine's Bagels before, and it was a better experience at different locations. Hopefully next time is a better experience.
My favorite bagel place in the metro Detroit/ Troy area. The service is always kind and efficient. The Salt Stick and the Red Pepper Cream Cheese has been my favorite for around 5 years and has not been topped yet! Thank you Elaine Bagel 👌
Wanted to find a small shop with breakfast bagels since our usual place is far away now, this didn’t disappoint! Delicious garlic bagel with a generous amount of egg and good bacon. Also employee was very nice and efficient being by themselves. Cannot speak to lunch sandwiches though.
I've only ever had breakfast bagel sandwiches, but they've been great and the folks there are very nice.

What happened to the Rochester Elaine’s? In the last six month’s we’ve gotten stale and raw dough bagels. The taste is ioff on the other one. Yesterday I bought bagels and when I told the clerk about my experience she put one raisin bagel back and reached for another one in a separate bun, so she knew it would be stale! The bathroom didn’t even have soap. I’ve been a loyal customer for years but now I’m looking for a new place.
I have been getting bagels here for over 20 years and it has sustained quality this whole time. Delicious bagels and fantastic cream cheeses. Hot cocoa is very good as well. Prices good and staff is friendly and fast.
