I thought by the size of the menu that the food would just be okay because there's just so much to list. Whenever she recommended the birria quesadilla I was pleasantly surprised that everything was amazing. I had never had it before but it was delicious. And the server was very sweet. My only issue with El Tap the one on the Hill is the man who takes payment. He is tall. Sorry, I don't know his name. I don't know why he doesn't like me. I always tip generously. I never cause a fuss. And he's rude when he takes my money. So I probably won't be back just because of how rude the man who takes my payment for my meal. A few times, he has way overcharged me, I didn't make a fuss, I just paid my ticket. The wait staff is always sweet and even helps me with my Spanish that I am trying to learn. Many times, I do come in alone because my husband is working, and I just need a taco. Because of that, I always tip generously I don't think I will be back because he has been rude to me several times. Exceptional!!! The service was wonderful and the empty tables were all clean even with the slight crowd. The special today, chicken enchiladas, were some of the best I have had, and moreover there were three not two at most places. The salsa was some of the best I have had in the area. Second time eating at El Tapatio... this time I chose the West Main Street location. Much larger than the East location and more comfortable to enjoy. The food again was very good, I would even say exceptional. One thing I find desirable is the use of minimal cilantro. Everything was hot and plated well with nice Aesthetics. Before the meal the chips were fresh and crispy and the salsa very good. We asked the waitress about a sauce we heard called Diablo. She brought us bottles of two additional sauces which were both outstanding and one in particular had a nice bite to it. The only downside to the meal was the chips were never refilled neither were the drinks. On the positive side you could order your drinks in to go cups and ask for refills. Do yourself a favor and drive into town to other location. This was the worst Mexican food I’ve had in a while. I got a plate that I love at the other location. But it was ridiculously unflavored, tough and fatty. And the Margarita was pure mix and sweet. I love the in town location, but will never go back to this location by hospital.
