I came here for dinner with some colleagues. we came here at 7:30 PM, the place was not busy and we were seated immediately. they have about 10 or 12 tables and are able to fit larger parties. The wait staff is really friendly and Service is quick. We got the sampler platter which will feed 4 people and I tried the mojito. I will say that there was a lot of food that was bought in the sampler platter. However, I wouldn’t say that it was very tasty or flavorful Most of it was really just deep fried. I also found the mojito to be over sweet. I would come here for a change of pace and for dishes to share. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
This is a nice restaurant in downtown Silver Spring that has a pretty decent happy hour menu and a nice aura and aesthetic. It was a Tuesday evening but surprisingly slow traffic so it was a very enjoyable experience. The food was very timely, brought out and tasty as well. Not to mention feeling too Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Roasted Pork

We ate here on Saturday, 2/25/23. It’s a smaller space, with a long bar, and a kitchen/food prep space you can see from the dining area. Service was immediate, and with constant attention. My glass was never empty. Food quality wasn’t outstanding - it was EXCEPTIONAL. Both chicken and pork had that “soft but chewy” quality unique to REAL Cuban cooking, with the sweet and tangy taste. The finishing vegetables and herbs MADE the dishes, all perfectly cooked. And the sauces - OH, THE SAUCES. Be sure to try ALL of them on EVERYTHING. You won’t be disappointed. I thought pricing was reasonable for both service and food. Portions were LARGE and ended up going home with us. Overall, A+++ experience. We’ll be back! 👍👍👍 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30
Just finished (3/4/23) dinning at El Sapo. The seasoning and presentation of the dishes were excellent!! Drinks were also spot on. Don't let the steam rice fool you...it's not the plain stuff, well season with garlic and other goodness 😋. Sample the small bites and have an entree. You won't be disappointed. My boyfriend and I wanted to try a new place and stumbled in El Sapo one Saturday night. As much as I wanted to enjoy the experience and food—I was absolutely heartbroken when I saw that they are using live toads as decoration. Please see the pictures I attached—These 2 toads are housed in a 1-gallon tank with fake plastic plants and gravel substrate. These toads continuously swam in circles and when they went up to the surface they headed towards the edge and gripped the tank as they gulped some fresh air. Now—I am not an expert in toads and how their habitat should be. But I have enough conscious to know that toads and frogs should be housed in at least a 10-gallon tank, per toad! They should have heating, humidity and proper lighting, shelter and/or handful of hiding places (such as rocks, bark pieces, branches or small potted plants), and sturdy rock or hard surface area where the toad/frog can rest. Most frogs/toads are semi-aquatic, meaning they need both a water source and a dry area to live in. This allows them to regulate their body temperature, hydration, and provides opportunities for basking. It's important to provide the appropriate habitat for toads/frogs. Their lives are important—and this restaurant whose name us "EL SAPO," sapo meaning toad, clearly does not care for them. In my opinion, they should rehouse the toads and NOT use live animals as decorations or entertainment. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
• I enjoyed the lavender margarita. I just wish it had been served in a larger glass. • The servers were pleasant. • Parking is available at the parking garage near by • The croquetas de bacalao were not cooked evenly. Some parts of the filling were hot and other parts were cold. • The plate I was given had some dark marks around the edges. I brought this to the server’s attention and he replaced it with a clean plate. •The postcard is a nice touch. • There is a 20% service charge included on the check. Considering that I dined alone, I found that to be quite exorbitant especially since I was not impressed with the food. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner

El Sapo Cuban Social Club has a great atmosphere and service, but it needs to improve its food. It has potential to be a great Cuban restaurant, but it falls short in some areas. I would give it another chance if they fix their issues, but for now I can only give it 3 stars out of 5. The mojitos were really good however. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

FYI: 20% Service Charge that waiters will not tell you about and the receipt will does not indicate you are tipping additionally. Seems a bit dishonest or maybe just a new practice so waiters forget to mention. Cute Cuban-inspired spot in Silver Spring, we would frequent for happy hour and the occasional dinner, and the food and drinks are pretty solid. The space is more an a happy hour and drink spot when the weather is warm, great outdoor seating and music. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
What a great place for Latin food and vibes!!! Everything from apps, drinks, entrees to deserts tasted great. Their shrimp ceviche with passion fruit was the best I’ve ever had. Desserts are to die for, I recommend to try flan and coconut vegan ice cream. All drinks were made with fresh squeezed juices and their wine options are very good. The vibe overall is very very cute. Lots of space, windows and the decor is very instagramable. The service was very attentive and friendly, on the other hand. I liked this place a lot and will definitely be back soon! I’ve been here twice, and I love it! The drinks are very good (also very strong) and inexpensive. The food is also very delicious! This seems to be a popular neighborhood hangout as there are always plenty of patrons, but I understand why. The staff are great! Very friendly and personable, they make the experience even better. I also love that they play Latin (mainly Cuban) music. This is definitely one of the better happy hour options in downtown Silver Spring, I’m sure I’ll be back soon!
