First time here, it was excellent. The salsa & queso are great! I had the verde platter & it was delicious with the homemade flour tortillas! Top-notch all the way around. This will be my new spot when I am in Lawrence! ROCK CHALK Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The food here is so delicious! We love the Gringo Dip. It's a meal in itself! The portions are generous. The people working here are all so friendly and it seems that they genuinely care about their customers. The decorations are very enjoyable and make us feel right at home. Free and easy parking is right outside the front door. We love El Potro! We came to El Potro tonight after a vet appointment. It was myself, a friend, and my dog. I came in and asked if their patio was open because we'd like a table but we have a dog w us. Even though its not patio season, the host was very kind and accommodating and said it was okay and seated us on the patio. Another staff member promptly brought out chips, salsa, and queso for the table. Our server came out soon after to grab drink orders. Drinks were promptly and accurately delivered. Our server took our order- one item on our order had a modification. Our food was promptly and accurately delivered, modification correct, with all cutlery, napkins, and condiments! Our server was very personable and kind to us and about my dog. I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting his name to thank him directly here. This was a truly delightful evening after a very long and stressful day. We went there because I've had amazing tacos there in the past but after the level of excellent service we received on this visit, I'll be back for both the food and the amazing front of house staff. 5 stars to everyone we interacted with, from the host to the chips and salsa gal to the server to the food runner, and etc. It's really nice to see teamwork happen successfully at a restaurant in a post covid world. 5 stars all around, way to go and thank you so much!
