We’ve now officially have had our din in, take and delivery service and the food is still fantastic! My favorite is the Burrito Carne Asada - the steak is very flavorful and of course the cheese that goes with it amazing! I haven’t had anything that was spicy unfortunately and I love spicy. So I just have our own hot sauce that we use for an extra kick! A must try! We called ahead for a table of 12 the prior day to make sure for accommodations. We arrived for our meal on time. We all got beverages, and ordered our food. I got the Hawaiian fajitas substituted steak for chicken and added extra pineapple. My food arrived it was good but 3 tortillas for the entire fajita mix is crazy way more meat and veggies for 3 tortillas. And 3 pieces of pineapple. Our food came in shifts. And the super annoying thing is two people in our party received their food about 7 minutes later. They forgot a few of the accompaniments that belonged to some of the party. The flavor was good. The service here is 100 times better than Verona. I just wish that when you order things they would actually come the way we ordered. They didn’t come by often so it was very hard to get fixes to our issues and still have hot food. My chimichanga was burnt to a crisp! I’m surprised they thought it was okay to serve this to a customer! This was our second time there getting take out, the first time was great so I was looking forward to dinner. Unfortunately I ended up just throwing this away as it was too burnt to eat. Love it! The food and drinks were perfectly and beautifully done! One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. The Chori Pollo features chicken breast that was so damn flavorful and juicy! I couldn’t believe it was breast. The salsa was amazing as well. The drink is Coco Loco, very tropical and so fun to drink with the tajin rim. The service was AMAZING! From beginning to end. I was very pleased. The server was so nice and humble. The food came out pretty fast and fresh. It’s not easy to have a dine-in experience where you actually like every element, from the service to every bite and sip you take. Just fantastic! I will definitely go back again! Great food and atmosphere. One thing I really observed the other evening was how the staff are all smiling and the interaction with themselves. For as long as I've gone here, it's nice to see that they all enjoy working with each other as a family, and it shows. Thank you. Good food drinks, service, and prices! Visited on Thursday night and every seat was full. I didn't see anyone waiting all evening but also saw an empty table. Food was good, we had the Banderas Burrito and the Chicken tacos authentically made with cilantro and onions. We also had margaritas, the Cadillacs as well as a blended strawberry, and both of those were good as well! I'm sure we will visit again! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30

The best Mexican restaurant around! Great staff, even better food, and not bad pricing at all. Never had an issue here in dozens of visits. I never liked Mexican food until I came here. From the moment we walked in and were greeted and seated this place impressed. The decor was stylistic and the leather booths very comfortable and spacious. House made chips and salsa were brought with menus and when we weren't ready to order when our server (Chuy) came back to the table he refilled both with a smile and told us to take our time. We ordered 3 different entrees (Chicken Chimichangas - amazing flavor and perfectly prepared, Quesadilla Grande - the combo of shrimp, chicken and onions and that creamy salty cheese......spectacular, Enchilada Bandera - cheesy and covered in sauces that complimented each filling) and each of us described our dishes as the best and most authentic Mexican food we've ever had. Our meal time conversation concluded with a unanimous decision that our meal was better than food we've eaten south of the border. The Horchata rivaled any we have ever had and the Churros Mexicanos were top notch (crispy outside, chewy inside, cinnamon sugared perfectly and drizzled with chocolate to accent all the flavors). If I could give more than 5 stars I would, as this place has just made the top of my list for Mexican restaurants in the Madison area. Can't wait to return with friends and family to share this amazing place. We came to El Charro for a business lunch and found the restaurant quite inviting of a large party. The restaurant does have a number of large tables and they were able to get us in pretty quick which was great. I did like that they have outdoor seating as the weather was beautiful although they did have large tables inside as well so I would recommend this place for groups based on the experience I had. We did arrive about 15 minutes before noon so the more you push into the lunch hour I can imagine it would be more difficult. The service at the location was excellent most notably the quick pace our orders were taken along with the drinks coming out. As aforementioned we were sitting outside and while it was a nice temperature for us, the cold drinks obviously didn't care for it. I mentioned this because our server was on top of noticing this and was quickly refreshing drinks before our food came out. The food was good overall, the two soft taco lunch meal I got was a good amount of food taking up a large plate due to a generous portion of beans and rice. The tacos themselves had a nice tortilla shell and good balance of ground beef, lettuce, and cheese. The beans and rice were good standard fare expected and complimented the tacos nicely.
