Some people say this is just an average diner with average food. However, I would beg to differ. I agree that the parking lot is a tight squeeze but we used an Uber to get here. It’s a nice diner and the food is amazing. They’re known for the chicken and waffles. I ordered that and also the shrimp and grits. Both dishes burst with flavor as soon as you take a bite of each. Our waitress also checked on us often to see if we needed anything. If you’re ever in Charleston, I recommend stopping here before you leave. What made the chicken and waffles so popular could be that they added pecan to the fried chicken so that it has a sweeter taste and the waffles are cinnamon. Make sure you use that honey mustard bbq sauce, it helps balance out the flavor. They were able to split the entree onto two plates if you’re sharing. This version of the shrimp and grits has bacon, scallions, and grape tomatoes. Definitely one of my favorite versions. That tomato gravy was very creamy and delicious. This is a hidden gem! We went Saturday around 1230 and this place was PACKED! I Can see why! EVERYTHING looked so good! The portion size was huge! The biscuits are honestly the best I have ever had! They were so fluffy and moist. Seriously could have eaten them plain! I would go back there just to order a dozen biscuits! My friend ordered the chicken and waffles! Large portion of perfectly moist and fried chicken! The homemade honey mustard was outstanding wish there was more of it. Enjoyed breakfast at the early bird diner this morning. It was different and definitely gave me small town diner vibes. Smaller inside with fun music playing. I had the chicken and waffles, both were good but I would say far from blowing me away. The chicken could use more seasoning and the waffle was just meh. The honey mustard that came with the dish was really good. My wife had the fried chicken grits bowl, she enjoyed it as well, but again not blown away. Cool local atmosphere and great service from the waitress who was quick and friendly. The food was quite tasty - but not significantly better than other diner food I have. My only real concern is the PRICE! I ordered what’s pictured (1 pancake, biscuit, country scramble - egg cheese sausage potato and onion topped with gravy) plus coffee and it’s was 22.76 before 6$ tip. Pretty outrageously expensive 29$ for a meal that couldn’t have cost more than 10$ to make. Should’ve been less than 20$. Although I liked it I will not be back, plenty of cheaper diners out there serving the same thing. The food was excellent, and the service was pretty good as well. The price was a bit high compared to other restaurants, and the parking was a bit limited and congested. Overall it was a great stop for a morning meal with the kids.
